Summer barbecues, parties, weddings – all great times to relax and maybe enjoy a cocktail or two, but if you’re pregnant you’ll want a delicious alcohol free version.  Pregnancy sportswear specialists, Fittamamma have come up with three delicious recipes that will not only taste amazing, but may also help with some of our pregnancy ailments!

Recipe: Ginger Slinger

Ginger is renowned for alleviating pregnancy heartburn.  This sparkling drink not only tastes good, it makes you feel good too!

Ingredients:

  • 3 tsps of good quality ginger cordial
  • Juice of ½ orange freshly squeezed
  • Generous squeeze of fresh lime juice
  • Sparkling mineral water
  • Crushed ice
  • Sprig of mint and a slice of lime

Method:

  1. Half fill a glass with ice cubes.
  2. Pour over the ginger cordial, orange juice and squeeze of lime.
  3. Top up with sparkling mineral water.
  4. Decorate with a sprig of mint and the slice of lime

Recipe: Fruity Pregnancy Mocktail

With a generous slug of pineapple juice (full of prenatal vitamins) it makes a positive contribution to your healthy pregnancy diet but best of all it’s a deliciously quaffable summer evening drink, redolent of tropical holidays in the sun!

Ingredients

  • 3 measures of pineapple juice
  • 3 measures of dry ginger ale
  • ½ measure of grenadine
  • Juice from ½ freshly squeezed lime
  • Crushed ice

Method

  1. Half fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice and pour in the pineapple juice, grenadine and lime juice.
  2. Shake well and strain into an ice-filled glass.
  3. Top up with dry ginger ale and garnish with a slice of lime and a fresh flower

Recipe: Pink Flamingo

A refreshing ‘Mocktail’ that you can happily enjoy as celebratory pregnancy appropriate drink!  Watermelon is packed with essential prenatal vitamins and can be soothing for pregnancy heartburn too – but best of all it’s a great non-alcoholic alternative to enjoy on a warm summer’s day.

Ingredients

  • 1 measure of grape juice
  • Slice of watermelon
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • Crushed ice
  • Sparkling mineral water

Method

  1. Blend the watermelon with the grape juice and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  2. Half fill a tall glass with crushed ice.
  3. Pour over the fruit juices and top up with sparkling water.
  4. Serve with a slice of lemon
