Hi

I am due to return to a job soon after 11 months mat leave. I will go back to managing a small team.  Another team member fulfilled my team leader role whilst i was on maternity leave. I had the same job when i was off with dd and when i returned i had about a 4 month long crisis of confidence.  i felt paranoid, useless at my job and that everyone had moved on and left me behind.  No idea why really, I got my confidence back after a short while though.  I do like my job and i think I am pretty good at it.

I jsut wondered whether anyone had any pearls of wisdom about avoiding such a dip in confidence this time.  I think I will be ok this time, but who knows eh?!

I know what you mean - I've recently gone back to work after my second child, and felt very 'mumsy' and out of the loop when I first when back.  However, the degree of organisation required in managing a toddler and a new baby means work feels easy, now I've got my feet back under the table!!

You haven't exactly been sat at home doing nothing, have you?  My time management and delegation skills have improved no end!

I know exactly how you feel.  I had just the same when I returned to work after DD1 (now 8). I am about to return to work after DD2 and I am feeling a bit apprehensive.  However knowing how I felt last time I think I am better prepared this time. I've decided I just need to believe in myself, accept things will be a little slower at first, but that I'll soon be back in the loop.  Worst of all my company has undergone a total re-branding whilst I've been away and I need to get up to speed on that!
