Has anyone got any tattoos they regret?

I haven't got any which is lucky cos I change my mind constantly.

Ones which I see and think 'I bet they regret that' include;

Chinese Writing (very late 90's)

Dolphins

Disney Characters

My friend has the worst, it says 'Kavos 2006' bless him. He was very drunk though.

Any thoughts?

PS. Sory if you've got one of those tats.

I once saw a young lad, no older than 16, who had a massive pikachu on his forearm.  He must regret that now lol.

When I was about 16 I wanted Elmo tattooed on my shoulder-I'm sooooo glad I never got it done!

One of my friends has a tattoo on her shoulder of a devil smoking a joint with the words ''sh!t happy'' underneath.

She later got the writing tattooed over but the joint is still fairly noticable.

Big mistake I think.

I haven't got any tattoos (yet!) but I've seen lots! My DH has a celtic sword type thing on his back which is really sexy, and a chinese symbol on his arm which is..not so sexy but its small so I don't mind! My BIL has his name in massive letters down his forearm which I think is just funny. Other BIL has a ghost-face smoking a joint which is crap, really poorly done and he's REALLY going to regret it! MIL recently had "Lennon" on her forearm which I thought was nice, I went along with her while she had it done! My brother has the world's worst tattoo, he got it done when he was 17 so wanted to keep it hidden away. When he finally showed mum she laughed and told him it was crap and it served him right! Its his nickname, "Wildthing" but it just looks like hes drawn it on!!

If I ever had one it would be very simple, Lennon's name and DOB with a shooting star besiide it, probably just under my shoulder blade.

Anything that dates you....

dolphins from the 80's

chinese/celtic from the 90's

stars at the moment

i like truly original tats that someone has taken the time to design, that mean something to the wearer, and that are not done in the cheapest blue tone available!

I have none of my own though, can't think of anything i'd really want to live with everyday for the rest of my life!!

I've seen some pretty bad ones - I dont like the cartoon characters but the whole point of a tatt is that it's what the person likes so i suppose each to their ownsmile

I've just had this done - it wont be to everyones taste but I'm loving it

I hope the pic isnt too bigblush

I have a little daisy on my big toe, and i lovelove it, it looks pretty in sandals and it's easy to cover up.

The worst ones i have ever seen are ALWAYS the portrait ones. I saw a corker over the "summer."  It was massive - all over this woman's back, and it was a studio portrait of her 3 children They looked demonic, although i'm sure they were lovely. Ugh, believe me when i say it was DISGUSTING. Whoever did that was having a laugh.

I also saw a vile one the other day -paw prints on someone's chest, just on the cleavage. Ugh - gross, so tacky.

Disney ones are just the height of bad taste. A friend of mine got a blue disney bird flying up to her inner thigh and she really hates it with a passion.

Fan tattoos are really bad too, like that episode of i'm alan partridge when his fan reveals one. Someone i work with said she went to a Ronan Keating concert and the woman in front had a massive portrait of him all over her back. Ronan Keating fgs.

The chinese symbols look totally dated now. As do the ones around peoples arms.

I love a nice tattoo on a man. I like a nice calf tattoo, must admit..

i love tattoos but i have none as i've never decidede what i REALLY want....there are a few i think why would you ever want that? some of those on that link were VILE! mostly though i think the arguement you'll regret it when your ninety means nothing. either you'll regret it tomorrow or you'll be ninety and will have long since accepted it as part of yor arm...no more horrifying than the droopy boobs and crinkles etc mouthfull

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h264/gemx24/deathrow.jpg

saw a guy getting this over his whole back when my ex was getting one of his done......the tattoist talked him out of the lettering but he was insistent on the naff electric chair guy.

my mate has the rebel alliance logo on his arm which i think is cool blush

I got my tatoo in 1997 and it's pretty naff, but I was drunk at the time and didn't really care too much. All in the name of fun! big smilebig smilebig smile

I was with two friends - one got a dolphin wearing sunglasses (not sure why and I'm still laughing about it now) and the other got a chinese symbol of some sort. I got a blue flower because my car was blue! surprised

As many of you know I am not a tattoo fan. I can just about tollarate *some* on fellas but not on women and never on children (esp my own).

I know sooooooooooooooooo many people who have tattoos that they deeply deeply regret or absolutly hate with a passion.

Does anyone watch Miami Ink?  Absolutely amazing art work, no doubt, but I think at least 98% of the tattoos people choose are hideous.  I hate portraits, cannot understand why anyone would get a name, be it partner, parent, lover, child, anything, on themselves.  I don't like big tattoos on women (sorry, no idea why!) and don't like common tats like roses on shoulders, little devils etc.  Boring!

I just got my 4th tattoo the other week, a star on the inside of my right ankle (it hurt!).  I want one more on the top of my left foot which i KNOW will hurt (yes, I'm a wuss) and I'm done.  It's highly addictive though.

Flipping 'eck, forgot to say worst tat I saw was a guy with a scorpion tattooed on his throat, his adam's apple actually.  Shudder.

I also knew a guy who was covered in them and any decent ones he had were lost amongst the crap.  A school friend of mine has loads and I dislike several of them as they are too big and will date easily.

My hubby has 5 tats and only one he regrets which is a hugh one on his bicep which is the welsh feathers its quite big and not easily covered up. I have one on my thigh which is written in chinese writing and is my sons name, i personnaly like it as it mean something to me and as its somewhere so private  only i can choose who i show it to.. I will be having another one on my other thigh of my daughters name and DH will be getting another one with our daughters name too.

And i not 100% sure but i think the paw print tat is a gay pride symbol i know my mate has this tat and thats what he told me

I hate tattoos - I think they look awful regardless of who has them and where they are  and I would never have one.

Nor would I sanction my children having them (although listening to ikaty sounds like I might not have a choice sad) I would not have married a man with tattoos either.

My dh has taz, the cartoon character, on his arm which im sure he'll regret later in life. On his other arm is a british bulldog, i dont like that one, and a panther on his leg. I have 3, a butterfly on my back, a rose on my ankle and a bird on my arm which i dont really like anymore. My dad has lots of tattoos which he had done when he was younger. The one i hate though is of a skull with a cigarette hanging out and the words DEATH next to it. Nasty.

There was an article on a woman who had a picture of her baby's face tattooed on her chest/breasts. It was bloody awful. But the worst I have ever seen was at a wedding where the bride (in a strapless dress I might add) had Arnie in Terminator 2 on his motorbike brandishing a gun ON HER SHOULDER.

Needless to say, I am not a fan of tattoos - even tiny little ones that are discreet and hidden. I just don't really like them sorry.

I love them if they are done well, as they can be really nice pieces of art. I have a chinese symbol meaning mother with my childrens initials worked into it. I love it and do not think it is dated at all.

I also have another flower with no colour on the top of my right foot and I have so many positive compliments about it.

DH has many tattoos, not keen on his latest one, but I can appreciate the talent and the artwork in it.

I find how some people dress far more offensive or distasteful than a tattoo

Dh has a very nice tatt, it's a dinosaur from Calvin and Hobbes who is about to throw a snowball. It's about 2 inches high on his shoulder. He wants another one but so far I've hated every suggestion he's made so I hope he doesn't just go ahead and get one. His brother has far too many and most are a bit daft looking.

I would quite like a small pretty one somewhere but I can't decide where and I can't decide what so I expect I'll be about 60 when I get it! I wanted a pretty flower but nothing jumps out at me. I like the glittery one though above, oooh I like sparkly things! And what are these stars being talked about?

Being pg and then probably breastfeeding for another few years I don't think I'll be doing anything in a hurry though.

Forgot to say about my own stupid tattoo I have! I had it done when I was either 14 ot 15-

I just have the fish, not the writing or a ring round it. I am undecided what I will do-either to have it covered up with a different one or have it lasered off. I really hate it and it is honestly, hand on heart the biggest regret of my life so far. I hate it if anyone notices it.

My friend in school had one done at the same time of a smurf smoking a bong. Looking back on it now, we were so immature and irrisponsible, no wonder my Dad went absolutley crazy!

Seen as I work damn hard for my money I dont often waste it - so nothing could be further from the truth - I consider my tattoo to be an art form - if you dont like them fair enough but stereotypical name calling is a tad childish IMHO

I had a little butterfly on my shoulder when I was about 17 after half a pint of lager, it's still there tho I can't remember the last time me or anyone saw it! (my hair hides it at the moment)

My mum and dad knew nothing about it until it was too late and were very disappointed!

Do you think if I manage to live until I'm 100 that I wont have anything else on my mind but what my tattoo looks like.  People place too much stock on what other people think they look like.  You said tattoos make women look like tramps - how exactly is that then???  Its not nice calling someone a tramp under any circumstances - its like calling a woman a tart who has children by different dads - not the done thing.

Just remembered  -curlytots, yours reminded me (sorry!) - that brands tattoos are the worst of all! I can't believe how popular the Nike tick was a few years back - i really judge someone if they have one of those proudly on display - d***heads!

And another horrible one is a bow at the bottom of the back.

Subject:Worst Tattoos?

I love having them done, i have 5 at the moment, only one i "regret" is the wings on my back but only because its tooo small...i want that going over and making bigger! two of mine are very personal; Ainle on my back which means Angel in Manx (Isle of man speak) and the other is the three legs of man on my neck and i love them! the other three are the wings below Ainle on my back, a squiggle on my boob which my DF LOVES (and me) and a squiggle on my ankle and...

I WANT MORE!!!

DF has one on his arm which is loooverly and he wants more, just saving up for them!

Some tattoos look aweful, i personally dont like tattoos on womens arms and my tattooist refuses to tattoo any women's lower arm coz he thinks its tacky!!

I like a nice tattoo whether it is on a man or woman, but I don't like the love/hate across the knuckles, anything obviously prison/homemade and I don't like the whole "death imagery" thing.

The argument about what happens when you are old and saggy doesn't wash with me, as if I am that old and saggy I am hardly going to be parading around in a bikini, and if I am then I am not going to be the sort of person to be bothered about a saggy tattoo!

I don't have a problem with tattoos whether on a man or a woman and don't care where. I think it can tell a lot about a person but for myself personally I wouldn't have pictures done and wouldn't have them visible on my arms.

I am debating if to have one at the bottom of my back of Jessica name in italic with her DOB.

I would never get a partners name on me - you never know what will happen in a realtionship

I think tattoos look common and chavvy. do you? i dont think you can call someone a chav because they have a tattoo.  i have one on my shoulder blade, a small chinese symbol meaning joshua. its not dated. its about 2 inches long by one inch wide. you cant even see it unless i am topless, which is never in public. how does that make me a chav?.

I would never have one and I think they make women look like tramps.  I hate them on men too, although both my childrens dads have had a tattoo with my name on their arm. i dont think i need say any more really.

I would never have a tattoo, what a waste of money and don't they look crap after a couple of years. it cost me about £20 and its still there, unlike a holiday for example which can cost hundreds and last a fortnight.  so no, not a waste of money in my opinion.  and its doesnt look any different now than it did when i had it done, years ago.

Yes, you'd be mad to have one. whatever.  you are very judgemental about this.  or are you jealous that you are too scared to have one done?

The worst I've seen is on MySpace in a guys profile. Not his, it's his mate. It's a naked woman across his arm and chest so that his armpit hair forms her pubic hair. I really don't feel it's appropriate to repost here, but if anyone really wants to see it do email me.

almost forgot big smile I also have a cannabis leaf on the bottom of my back...another sensible decision, surprised although I was over 18 with this one.I don't really care about that one as it is out of sight, and could never have it lasered ot covered as it hurt so much I wouldn't want to repeat it.

So not only I am a trampy chav, I'm also a trampy druggy chav! I couldn't be happier!yesparty

i didnt realise so many people thought chinese writing was a 90s thing! great. thats another one i want changing then!

i DID love all mine lol apart from one on my ankle which is nice enough but has my neices name under it as when she was born she was very very ill and i really didnt want kids blush now i have 2 of my own i feel i should either get rid of hers or get theirs added too and no offence but i dont want to end up with a family tree across my back or owt!

to be fair you cant read the name easily and it just looks like part of the design next to it. but what to do about my dodgy 90s tattoo?   `

I have 3 tattoos, I had a dolphin on my stomach, I do not regret having it done but only cos my tummy is like a bowl of jelly now so will never be seen in public again anyway...

I have had 2 others done over the last few weeks, I have had O.A.K written on the bottom of my back, about 3 inchs high, which stand for my childrens names, Oliver aimee and Keira, I have also got a oak branch going up my spine above it, about 2 inchs high.

I also have 2 butterflys on my shoulder with some flowers.

I love them and I am planning on having at least one more in the near future.

I must me a chav as well then, lol

I'm quite surprised at some of the reactions to be honest! When i'm a 100, providing i'm still in sane mind (doubtful tbh) My tattoos are going to be a lovely reminder of my life - they are all personal to me, not decisions taken lightly, so  i hope they'll make me smile even then!

I don't have any, my boyfriend has 3 of our kids name on the top of his arm in chinese symbols, he will have Elias added soon.  I think it look nice, its not too big.

I would like to have the kids names in hebrew on this inside of my wrists but not only am I scared of the pain, it would be a pain to cover up if I needed to.

Hi there, It was just my opinion on the tattoo.  As far as having 2 children by 2 different dads, My first husband tragically died when my daughter was 2, was I to stay on my own forever and never have any more children?  Still don't like tattoos though!

I dont regret either of my tattoos. In fact I want more. I love tattoos and piercings in general as long as theyre not cartoon characters and that sort of thing, and I hate it when people have their kids names in big over them. I dont know why.
I remember someone i used to know had the most beautifully done kind of demonic design on her back and shoulder. It was quite big but I loved it. I wish I could carry off something like that. One day ill find the right design and get it done

Dh has my name on his arm (Michelle), he had it done about three years ago. He doesn't regret it, I doubt he ever will, its small, I wouldn't want him to cover it up but if we split and he wanted too I'd understand. And if we stay together then its all good big smile

He's going to get our children's names done as well. And I'm going to get a little 'C' (for Christopher, DH's name) probably with a little red heart in it and I'm going to get a little green V for Vegetarian! Not sure where yet.

I like my tattoo. I have a star on the left side of my stomach. Everyone said: "ooh that'll look awful in pregnancy" but it hasn't stretched or changed shape at all.
DP has promised to get a tattoo when he's watched me go through labour. He's always wanted one but is scared of the pain so we are doing a swap!
As for being 100 and regretting it. I don't really do regrets. My grandad was a sailor and his arms were covered with the most amazing ink. He lived well into his 80s and every tattoo was still clear and mapped out the journey of his life.

I was actually joking about this AMY.  And the 100 year old thing - just joking - I don't actually care what you put on your body.  What is offensive to you?  My opinion?  You don't actually have to answer my posts -it's your choice!  I always use exclamation marks when I am making a statement.  Its only punctuation after all! oh ok then, as long as its just your opinion.  i still fail to see how you can say all tattoos look trampy and common?  have you seen all tattoos?

and trampy, what exactly do you mean by that?  trampy in 'she looks like a tramp' ie smelly, piece of string for a belt, eating out of rubbish bins?

or trampy, ie ' slutty, puts it about a bit, prossie' kind of trampy?

im confused, its ok for you to generalise and put people into categories, dependent on whether they mark their skin with ink, but i cant categorise you for having children with different men?

even if thats 'just my opinion?'

i have three tattoos, one is at the top of my spine of a trible rose (quite big) with dad just above, the second is at the bottom of my spine in the middle of my back this is trible again and the third is at my groin on the right hand side this too is a trible one, so shoot me i really must be a total tramp

you should not go throwing names around like that if you don't expect to get a responce, try to think before you open your mouth, you could of worded it better, and normaly people that go around saying things like that in my opinion dont really think highly of themselves, what i have read is that you have tried to turn this all round on to you because no one mentioned about you having kids to two different guys  you did then you brought in about your first husband dying which i am really sorry to hear but why feel you had to mention thatwhen no one said anything about who or how meny people fathered your children, so when people said that your taking it personnaly then i have to agree,

Please leave Dobiegirl alone.

I asked for opinions and she gave.

I'm sure that everyone who got tats knew that they'd be (or not be) accepted in different manners so I don't understad why this is a surprise.

A lot of people think that girls with tats look bad, that's one of the reasons why I left this post.

I'm sure that all of you knew that.

Thanks for that Moleymole.

I honestly didn't think I would cause such a big who-har.  I only gave my opinion.  Others started underlining my text about having 2 fathers to my children as if that was a sin, but that was not what this thread was about in the first place.

For all those that doubt and shout, I am very happy I had a second child to my second husband and couldn't care less if I'm scorned because of it.  Bring it on big tats.

Not a huge fan of them - can take them or leave them really. However the worst I saw belonged to a guy I spotted on a bus in Morocco 12 years ago. It said "Bob Jovi". It still creases me up to this day.

Ha, I've just remembered (as school has been mentioned) when I was in the 6th form, a girl in my class (yes she was under 18) has this gorgeous rose tattoo done on her back, it was really nice and everyone was giving her compliments saying how good it was.

I don't like tattoo's fullstop, but then I would never have one, everyone else is free to do as they wish.

One of the dad's at school has a load, including the names of his children, all over his legs and I think they look a mess.  He is a really good looking guy but the tattoo's just put me off!

I havnt any but i dont like any disney or other little characters, with all the cheap looking color.

Dislike naked women on mens arms and silly ones like barcodes, why rolling eyes

Just a personal thing but when people have partners names, dates etc. Maybe it just cos i think the worst but if ever you broke up with that person you'd have their name with you for life.

I don't really like tattoos at all so they're all 'worst' in my opinion lol!  Having said that, SOME tattoos look ok on some people some of the time!

The worst tattoos for me are the really big 'masculine' ones on women, like tigers and stuff - they look bad enough on hells angels and appaulling on a woman.

I love the look of women with well designed sleeves and chest tattoos. I would never be brave enough but I do love them.

Oh go on, do tell... is it who I think it may be?  Thought she had a big Celtic cross there.  Anyway.  I don't mind tattoos that much - having said that I would never have one although when I was younger I did think about it.  Now I am very glad I just had my nose pierced instead! I think the worst ones are probably the small ones on girls' ankles/small of back/shoulder blade... To me, if you're going to bother you should get one that is big enough to see and be proud of it.  Surely it's not worth going through the pain otherwise?

Hi ladies, i was just lurking and saw this thread. I hope you dont mind if i join in. I normally post on T4ab,but tonight i felt like a wonder! I have a black design on the base on my spine. I had it done just before my 30th, about 4 and a half yeas ago. I love it because its not on show all the time and i cant see it unless i look in the mirror. Its only visible to others when im in a bikini and being a tiny size 8 i cant still get away with that thankfully and when i wear low slung jeans, when leaning over. Im not keen on ladies with tatts on arms. Im thinking the wedding dress scenario. Thats just m opinion.

Worst tattoo I ever saw was the word "TATTOO" in thick black letters about five inches tall across a guys neck. Duh - you don't say!  It was so big there would be no way of tattoo-ing over it and the only way to hide it would be to wear either a polo neck jumper all the time or a scarf. Very sad.

lol moley mole i have a chinese love emblem on my upper right arm and then i have a barbwire celtic design on my upper left, i did consider a winnie the pooh but thought no not a good idea, and the winnie the pooh drawing was crap !

i kind of regret my barbwire one but it would cost more to remove than it did to have put there so unless i win the lottery its staying, and it doesnt matter having tattoos and short sleeved tops working in a pub anyway but when i go to office jobs/interviews i have to wear my 3/4 blouses because of the tats

Prefer piercings, I have 15, when youre fed up, take them out doesnt really show, except the wrist ones so not much to regret. I have a few tatts too but theyre ok.

I have 2 tattoos which I do in some ways regret having done. Luckily they are both covered when I wear my normal clothes. The only good thing about my tattoos is my eldest DD thinks it is so embarrassing that I have one that she has vowed NEVER to get one lol
