to choose a car seat

In order to guarantee a safe and secure fit, it is crucial to ensure that the car seat you purchase is suitable for the weight of your child. Child and baby car seats are divided into eight different groups, in accordance with rigorous safety regulations and the European Standard R44.04. The standard divides the groups by your child's weight, rather than age, as shown in the table below:

Height-wise, your child's head should be one inch or more below the top of the car seat when rear facing. For front facing car seats, the tops of your child's ears should be below the top of the car seat. Some car seats span more than one group, meaning that they are manufactured to take a heavier weight, giving them a longer life.
