You may wonder why you need to deactivate your airbag or simply not place your child car seat in a seat with an airbag. If they are meant to protect us in a crash surely they will help protect my child? Unfortunately not: in a crash they can kill a child. Airbags are designed for adults weighing around 78kg. As they are placed low for an adult's body they could suffocate a child. They also fully inflate in less than a second at a 160mph, which can easily crush a child.
