Click here to find out more! Welcome to babyworld news September 2005

I can't believe I'm already thinking about bobble hats and the cold! It's that time of year to start planning either some winter sun (read our single dad's experience of Florida) or snow. If you haven't skied before then why not make 2005 the year of the family skiing holiday? The combination of fresh mountain air, lots of snow and all that exercise, makes it perfect for parents and children of all ages. Family skiing is always a challenge, but when you get it right the rewards are high. It will be a proud moment for you to watch your children, red-cheeked and bursting with glee, as they enthusiastically take to the slopes, and then progress to the stage where they get down the mountain faster than you! Snow-covered pistes are a magical place to take the kids for the perfect family holiday, but it's essential to pick the right holiday to please all age groups and make sure you all do as much or as little skiing as you want. If you've never skied before we've put together a beginner's guide to booking a family skiing holiday and if you are hooked - here is a round up of the best ski resorts for families with great suggestions for some time on the slopes.

Happy parenting and have a good month!

Interview with Patsy Palmer
If your baby or toddler is driving you round the bend, the latest parenting programme may give you some reassurance, if not the solution to your particular problem! We spoke to Patsy Palmer, Baby Squad's presenter, to see how her programme differs from all the other parenting shows around.

A single dad in Florida
Holidays are great aren't they? Well, that's the theory, but in reality a holiday with children can be highly stressful, especially if you're a single parent with sole responsibility. Being in exactly that position himself, Theo Theobald decided last year to take his two kids to Florida for a fortnight; here's some of what he learned on the way.

Labour howlers
Most of us do or say something cringe-worthy in labour - here are some of your best clangers! Shame on you!

Reflexology for pregnancy
Are you feeling tired, uncomfortable, or nauseous? You may be surprised to know that an ancient form of healing called reflexology can actually help treat many common pregnancy ailments - and even help you during delivery.

To pierce or not to pierce
The Beckham's chose to have their son's ears pierced when he was three. Some parents have it done a lot earlier but is it fair to make the decision on behalf of your child? We look at the issues and explain the care involved if you do have your baby's ears pierced.

Have a rant
Amber Vara is exasperated at the government's double standards over its 'Breastfeeding is best' campaign. "Why is there is no consistent support and advice for new mums to achieve their ideals?" she rants. There's a chance for you to have your say too!

Pregnancy products I love
We've been busy road-testing the best bump-supporting, body-boosting pregnancy products on the market. Our panel of mums to be have tried a range of products - from supportive maternity belts ('it changed my life') to relaxing foot spas ('a hit with the whole family), sleepy tea ('works a treat!') and special anti-nausea lollipops ('I've got my appetite back').

Stay at home dads
What keeps stay-at-home dads awake at night (apart from baby!)? We ask three fathers to talk about their main concerns while psychologist Dr Pat Spungin shares her expert advice...

"My baby had his first chemo at 3 weeks old"
As a newborn George had to face some very grown-up treatment to battle eye cancer. Read his amazing story....

Testing, testing!

Confused about car seats, swimming in a sea of information about swim nappies?! We have been busy making your life simple by rounding up the best brands around and getting them tested by a group of mums. Each product is put through between 4 and 6 different mums and their babies testing it. That means the feedback comes from real experience of the products.
