What does it take to breastfeed? Your answer would be partly right if you replied 'breasts'! However, judging from our first ever Breastfeeding Success awards - you require so much more than just a pair of boobs to breastfeed! For instance in our winning story 'A healthy appreciation of breasts!' it is quite incredible that Fiona Wallace Carvall managed, let alone continue, to breastfeed whilst going through horrendous traumas. Ellen chose to make an advert for breastfeeding, 'Falling in love in six acts', inspired by a Nike advertisement she saw years ago and we think it has a simple passionate message to inspire others. Melody's story, 'Proud to be breastfeeding my toddler' turns around our pre-conceived notions of who makes a good breast-feeder. At the tender age of 17 Melody managed to push through the unhelpful advice, pain and prejudice to become a long term breast-feeder, something even she is surprised to be doing!

Your stories poured in in their hundreds, thank you, the drive, passion and perseverance amongst you is awesome. Now you've met our winners, meet our runners' up.

Money and your relationship
According to Relate, the UK's largest relationships and sex counselling charity, the most common topic for arguments between couples is money. The majority of arguments are about how money is spent. Compounding this is the problem that money is, for many people, as taboo a subject as sex and talking about it difficult. Becoming parents is a common time for money to get in the way of parenting, discover the cost to your relationship.

Germ warfare
In today's world of bleaches, disinfectants and antibacterial sprays and cloths, cleanliness is next to godliness. Parents, however, can forget godliness; cleanliness is next to impossible when you're juggling work with family life. But don't despair. In a society that believes the only good germ is a dead one, our obsession with cleanliness could actually be causing more problems than it prevents.

On the couch
Every day mums come to the babyworld forums to ask other mums for help, guidance and reassurance with their parenting problems and we have turned to these, your real-life issues, as a basis for this series. Parent coach, Debbie Lewis, tackles two issues -new baby jealousy and unhappy partings at nursery.

Cot death - reducing the risks
There are a number of important things you can do to decrease your baby's risk of cot death, but at present there's no way to prevent it. We look at the important steps you can take to help reduce the risk.

Thumbs up!
Is thumb sucking any better or worse than a dummy? Read on to find out the truths and myths surrounding thumb-sucking and get some practical help in encouraging your toddler to give it up!

What's that you said?

We love to hear from you and this month we want to share this message from Sharon who has been a regular visitor to our Losing a baby forum
"Firstly, let me say thank you for such a great site. I had a miscarriage 4 weeks ago and I have found tremendous support from the various forums on the site. It has been so helpful to "speak" to other women who have gone through the same experience and know how you are feeling.

Secondly, I thought I would let you know that, through your site, I am now back in touch with my best friend from school! I have posted quite a few times on your site and have continued to use my maiden name. My friend recognised the surname and out of curiosity looked at my pregnancy diary to see if there were any hints as to whether I was who she thought I was!

After a couple of days deliberating she posted a message on the Forum for my attention. Imagine my surprise when I opened the message. We haven't seen or spoken to each other in over 17 years!!! We were best friends from the age of 8 to 16 but lost touch when we went to separate colleges. We've exchanged a few emails already but have got loads of news (17 years worth) to catch up on and it's fantastic to be back in touch with her again. Thank you Babyworld!" Sharon
