Click here to find out more! Welcome to babyworld news July 2005

The downsides of pregnancy - the sickness, stretchmarks and having to get up several times a night to pee - fade into insignificance when you consider the upside. No, not the baby at the end of it, although that is a very big plus, but the chance to enter the world of shopping for your child! But the choice is mind-boggling, how do you choose which buggy is best and will last two babies or fall to bits after a few tough expeditions? Do you want it as part of a travel system? The range of baby gear is so great you'll wish you had the Top Gear team around to road test everything. Well, we've got an ever better testing team - babyworld members who have joined our new Parent Panel to exhaustively test the latest baby equipment. This month sees the launch of our new Product Testing pages - the place to get honest, in-depth, personal views on baby products that work, don't work and why. Nowhere else will you find such powerful opinion to help you decide what to buy - here are the 3 ways you can get the best from our new Product tests.

Happy parenting and have a good month!

News from the babyworld shop team

The Marco Sky L twin buggy will be with us on Friday, so it's you're last chance to take advantage of the special pre-order price, and if you've already ordered, you can expect delivery for Monday or Tuesday next week! With an extra two inches of legroom for the baby at the back, it's a real winner when you need a compact buggy for two. It's also the season for summer fun and holidays and we've got lots of new products for going away that will help you travel light, stop the mozzies from biting and keep the sun off your baby's delicate skin. As always, if you need any help or advice, just give Brenda a call in Customer Service 01491 821877 - or if you're near Wallingford, Oxfordshire come and pay us a visit.

Babyworld has discovered a useful new holiday service. No longer do you have to stuff your overloaded suitcases with packs of nappies, jars of babyfood and tins of formula milk. You just order your favourite brands in advance from Tiny Traveller and it will all be at your villa/hotel/campsite/apartment to coincide with your arrival. Why didn't someone think of that before?

Travel essentials for mums-to-be
Whether you're visiting seaside resorts or experiencing more tropical climates, travelling when you're pregnant takes some extra planning and care. Whether you are planning a journey for business or pleasure, read on to find out what you need to do before, during and after your trip.

Epidural to go?
In the 70s the traditional epidural was hailed as a brilliant form of pain relief for childbirth. However, it soon became a dirty word in labour wards as it very often led to a catalogue of medical intervention and side-effects. The arrival of the 'mobile epidural' has virtually eradicated the post-epidural headache, leaves feeling in the legs allowing mums to walk around and push effectively.

We're off to Disneyland, Center Parcs and Legoland!
Visiting one of the Disney theme parks, Legoland and Centerparcs is nearly a rite of passage for every family these days. To help you avoid the pitfalls babyworld parents give you the benefit of their hindsight with these tips and advice.

Birth abroad
Community midwife, Elizabeth Way-Rider, visited a 'birth house' in Germany and discovered a natural holistic approach to childbirth that leads to very little medical intervention.

Baby showers
No, it's not a party in the rain but a new-ish phenomena from the US. We take a look at what they are, who to invite and what on earth they involve!

Babies get heartburn too...
Gastro-oesophageal reflux, or heartburn, is a painful and distressing condition for babies. It can leave families exhausted from the crying and wondering if the vomiting will ever stop. Here are the signs to watch for and ways to cope.

Rays of sunshine
Get snapping and email us your baby enjoying the good weather (or bad) being silly, naughty, funny or simply too cute for words!

Can you help with some research?
TPoll an independent market research company is looking for Mums and Dads who are either expecting a baby in the next 3 months or have recently had a baby to take part in a series of 10 online questionnaires over the next year. There will be prizes and draws throughout the year so taking part should be fun. This is a serious market research project and you will not be sent any marketing or other communications as a result of the answers you provide. To participate click here.

"I was so embarrassed!"
Parenting brings with it plenty of opportunities for farce, fun and embarrassment by the bucket load. Enjoy these cringe-worthy moments…

On test this month

On test: Lightweight buggies
In the first of our new-style of product tests we take a look at lightweight buggies. All the buggies have been tested by each of our 6-mum Parent Panel. They each have different lifestyles and requirements and as a result, we've got some interesting reviews on what works and what doesn't. Better still, if you agree or disagree with their views you can tell others what you think by writing a 'member review'.
