And there's nothing wrong with using bottled sources occasionally as long as there are some fresh ingredients, too. Below, are two very simple and enjoyable dishes that you could prepare with your child and empty plates are guaranteed!
My daughter loves preparing (and eating!) this chicken recipe because it uses fresh ingredients and the rice and sauce make this dish very quick to prepare. She has asked to cook it again and again so, we had it for Mother's Day and now we'll enjoy it on Father's Day too! STICKY CHILLI CHICKEN WITH COOL MANGO SALADPreparation time: 15 minutes
1. Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 6/200°C/fan oven 180°C. Slash the chicken drumsticks 2-3 times with a sharp knife and coat in 3 tablespoons honey and chilli flakes. 2. Place in a roasting tin and pour over the UNCLE BEN'S Chilli Sauce. Roast for 30-35 minutes shaking the pan occasionally until cooked through. 3. Meanwhile, mix the remaining honey with the lime rind and juice, coriander, mango, red onion, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. 4. Just before serving toss with the salad leaves and serve with the sticky chicken drumsticks. SAUSAGE MEAT BURGERS/BALLSPreparation Time: 15 minutes
1. Place sausage-meat on a large bowl 2. Chop spring onions, including some of the pale green, with pair of scissors 3. Open can of sweetcorn and drain off any liquid 4. Soften the sausage-meat (with hands) and mix in the spring onions and half the can of sweetcorn 5. Divide the mixture into 8 (if you are making burgers) and shape into even, flat cakes OR divide into 16 if you are making balls and roll into good round shapes 6. If making burgers pre-heat oven to 200ºC and place burgers on a grill rack, cook for 15mins. For the sausage-balls pre-heat a non-stick fry pan and lightly brown the sausage balls, cook for 10-15 mins Where to next?
