SMA product recall

SMA Nutrition is recalling SMA Wysoy 860g cans of infant formula powder with a best before date of 28/08/2006 stamped on the base of the can.

The recall is a purely precautionary measure following reports that a single slither of metal has been found in four separate cans.

SMA says the metal pieces would be readily seen when making up the formula and that there are no safety implications.

However, any 860g cans of SMA Nutrition Wysoy Infant Formula with a best before date of 28/08/2006 stamped on the bottom should not be used.

SMA have asked that anyone with one of these cans or anyone with concerns or wanting clarification call the SMA Careline on freephone 0800 212 002. Where necessary, arrangements to replace the product will be made.

Steps have been taken to ensure that pharmacists and supermarkets who sell the product remove it from their shelves and return it to SMA.

SMA have apologised for the problem, the cause of which has already been identified and corrected. They stress that no other SMA product or batches have been affected.
