NEWSREADER IS PREGNANT

Kirsty Young and husband Nick Jones married last yearNEWSREADER Kirsty Young is expecting her first baby, it has been announced.

She and husband Nick Jones are said to be delighted at the news, which follows their marriage in September last year.

The baby is due in spring 2001 and Young has already said she plans to return to work after maternity leave, as her ITN colleague Katie Derham has recently done.

Kirsty, 31, told the Daily Mail: "I’m excited and delighted and more than thrilled. It’s wonderful.

"I’ve been very sick and word has got round. I think it’s become terribly obvious so I thought I might as well say now, even though I’m only nine weeks pregnant.

"It’s very early days yet but we are both really over the moon."

Kirsty is already a step-mum because her husband Nick has two children from his first marriage. She said earlier this year that she got on very well with his children and that she would love to have children with him in the future.

Celebrity mums due to give birth this month include Catherine Zeta Jones and Emma Noble, wife of James Major.
