Apple gets a baby brother called Moses
Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin have had a baby
boy.
After a screening of her film Proof in January, she was
introduced on stage as "a pregnant woman" and asked by Lou Diamond Philips
"How far along are you?" She answered, "Far enough along to feel very
cumbersome."
It was confirmed today by spokeswoman Emily Yomtobian that theShakespeare
in Love star gave birth in New York at the weekend.
However, she was unable to give any details about the baby's weight or
when he was born.
"Mom and baby are both doing well," she said. "I'm sure they are ecstatic."
The baby, who the couple have named Moses, is their second child.
There was much speculation about his name, especially after the couple's
first child Apple recently came second in a poll of celebrity offspring
with the most bizarre names.
Speaking on the Oprah Winfrey show after the birth of her daughter, Paltrow
said she couldn't understand why people were making such a fuss of her
daughters name which she said her husband had chosen.
"It conjured such a lovely picture for me - you know, apples are so sweet
and they're wholesome and it's biblical - and I just thought it sounded
so lovely and ... clean."
US magazine Star quoted a friend of the couple as saying that if the
baby was a boy, Paltrow wanted to name him after her father, film director
Bruce Paltrow, who died in 2002.
