Having a ball at Butlins

Single mum of three and our fantastic Community manager, Lou,
needed a break so we sent her to Butlins to find out if their latest launch
in Bognor Regis, a trendy stylish, ship-shaped hotel, is a success for
families.
I'm a single parent to three children (Jennifer age 12; Jason age 7 and
Joshua age 3 months). My family and I had a fantastic time visiting the
new Shoreline Hotel at Butlins, Bognor Regis for Halloween weekend.
As we arrived we saw that the Hotel was absolutely beautiful and magnificently
shaped like a ship! It faces out to the Channel and so some of the rooms
have a fantastic sea view, others have a balcony that looks over the wonderful
gardens which are situated to the side.
The room itself was classy, with a very crisp feel to it. Everything
was spotlessly clean and the décor was fun and bright. There were LCD
televisions and DVD players in the main bedroom and the children's area.
The
dinner menu at the hotel was good but didn't, I feel, really cater for
children, it was a bit too posh!! However the breakfast was absolutely
fantastic, there were mountains of food and you could have as much as
you like. The children were very full which kept them going well into
lunchtime. At one restaurant on the Resort you can have a 'character'
breakfast where cartoon characters from Bob the Builder to Billy the Butlins
Bear come and visit your table whilst you eat your breakfast, an instant
hit with the older children!
The entertainment on the resort in the daytime was excellent and at this
time of year it was all angled towards Halloween. For children that like
activities, they can go off and have fun with the red coat team all day.
Little ones must be accompanied though. There was also a large amount
going on in Skyline Centre itself, from Fireman Sam appearances, street
comedy with the Citrus brothers to African Acrobats. The Acrobats were
a huge hit for us, we were amazed at their display of bravery and agility.
The amusements are fab with plenty of 'grabbing machines' and trampolines.
The swimming pool is out of this world with lots of waterslides, waves
and the 'space bowl' - it's got to be seen to be believed!. The bowling
is great value with 'kids go free' sessions.
We didn't manage to visit any of the evening entertainment during our
stay. By the time we'd got ourselves together, fed and ready to go out,
all the venues were full and there wasn't anywhere to sit.
Outside
the Skyline Centre there were other activities such as a small fair that
included a merry go round, dodgems, pirate ship and other rides. Jennifer
cut her own personalised CD for just £25. It was a great experience for
her. She also had her hair cut (same as High Street prices) and the result
was very good. You could make your own music video and you can hire out
fancy dress clothes (great for evenings out). There were also lots of
outside activities such as football tournaments, archery, go karts and
crazy golf. If the weather isn't great there is a cinema and Gala Bingo.
There is so much to do here I couldn't possibly mention it all! We had
a great time and will need a return visit so that we can do all the things
we didn't have time for!
Butlins has something for everyone, from babies through to teenagers
and adults alike. We highly recommend Butlins to all families that like
to keep busy and have a fun-packed holiday. One thing is guaranteed…your
children will not want to go home!
Where to next?
