Number of reviews: 1 Overall score: A Weekly Planner for Entrepreneurial Women Available from www.amazon.co.uk, price £10.99 Step-by-step guide for Mumpreneurs!Parent Panel review by Alice - review date 24 September 2008What's it all about? This book is a step-by-step guide that will hold your hand throughout the whole process of starting your own business, from developing your idea through to the nitty-gritty of sales forecasting and on-line marketing. Offering tips, exercises, worksheets and lots of useful websites throughout, it will help any woman with the entrepreneurial bug develop their idea into a reality. With a definite slant towards 'mumpreneurs' (although due to the US authors, we are referred to as 'mompreneurs') this book is an invaluable tool to any mum thinking of going it alone. Presentation Containing sixteen manageable chapters, of which one should be read, developed and pondered over each week; this book is perfect for the busy mum seeking simple, practical guidance on how to launch her business. Tone and Target Audience With its uncomplicated, easy-to-understand language, free of business jargon, this book will appeal directly to modern mothers with entrepreneurial and ambitious spirit. There are constant references to modern life that we can all relate to, it doesn't drone on and even raises a smile from time-to-time proving that business doesn't have to be a scary prospect confined to businessmen in suits. Best Feature: As a 'mumpreneur' myself, I really think this book would have been of great use to me when I started out on my own business journey 3 years ago. It looks at all the important factors that should be covered when developing your idea; offers exercises, which will help to clarify your direction and most importantly, it avoids dragging you down with facts and figures that often scare people off. On the contrary, this book will make you feel that you can successfully launch and run your own business. Worst Feature: Written by two US entrepreneurs, terminology, websites and some sections might not be as relevant to us Brits. It also goes into quite alot of detail, some of which is not always relevant for smaller ventures, although you can easily cherry-pick to suit. Verdict: A great book to start you on the road to your own business. It will give you a good overview of all the areas you need to consider, provide you with invaluable insight and guide you through the process of developing your idea from something in your head to something you can unleash on the world. Good luck!
