Fabby monitors

Test length: 1 month
Parent Panel review by Vickie - review date 6 November 2007
These monitors were very welcome on their arrival as before that we had been using some horrible tixylix ones that buzz and drove us crazy!

They were very easy to set up. It was pretty much plug in and go (well the parent unit had to be charged for 14 hours before use but other than that were easy as anything). They were pretty self explanatory to use - the buttons all had a picture to represent their use so you didn't really need to use the instruction manual at all.

The sound quality on them is superb to the point that I could actually hear Jessica breathing over them. They also had a few extras that I loved. The built-in nightlight on the parents unit and five lullabies that can be played individually or all on a loop are excellent additional features that we got a lot of use from. And the best thing is that these features can be started from the parent unit downstairs.

They also have a temperature gauge so you can make sure the room isn't too hot with a vibrate setting if you want the volume turned down.

We were most impressed by the fact that the parent unit had talk back facility so you can talk to your baby when not in the room. My older son's loved this because they can talk to me when I am upstairs and they are keen to use them as walkie talkies when the baby is older!

I think these monitors are worth every penny for the reassurance they provide to the parent's knowing that you would be able to hear the baby make the slightest sound. All in all I would say I can't fault these monitors and would recommend them to anyone.

"Fantastic Monitor!"
This monitor is wonderful. Have been using it for 10 months and the features and quality are excellent. Particularly love the clear sound, torch and temperature guage. Would recommend to everyone as not one negative

"Really pleased with it"
We decided that this was the monitor we wanted and after 5 months use we are still really pleased with it.

The sound is clear and the temperature gauge is very useful. The visible sound level indicator is great and the talk back facility was useful when I was pregnant as I used it to ask my husband to make me cups of tea!

However, I can't see why you would want to play the tinny sounding lullabies to your baby and my husband and I had fun trying to work out what they actually were.

"Great peace of mind"
I fell much more relaxed when I put my baby boy down to sleep knowing I can check the room temperature and hear every little cry he makes from another room. I can even use the lullaby option to send him to sleep from the comfort of my sofa!

"multi-tasker monitor"
a monitor, room temperature gauge and walkie-talkie in one which also sings lullabies!

reliable with a great range both indoors and outside and great sound quality.

this product really enables me to make the most of any sleep times - whether that be me sleeping myself in the next room or hanging washing up outside - safe in the knowledge that i will hear any stirrings!

the temperature gauge is invaluable given the emphasis placed on baby's room not being too warm in light of cot death studies.

i definitely recommend this product - a must-have!

"Best in Class"
I have used loads of baby monitors - I think this is my fourth! The first, a Tomy digital, went back to the shop because you couldnt switch the temperature alarm off, the 2nd, another Tomy, had appalling sound. I bought an Angelcare mat for my 2nd child as he was very premature but only for the movement alarm. So it was such a relief to find a monitor that did everything I needed and looked great too!

The monitor works really well, with crystal clear sound even out in the garden and up to our study - giving us the peace of mind we need to keep on living our lives. I really like being able to adjust the sensitivity and if you are having a dinner party, muting the sound and being able to rely on the lights and vibrate function. The lights are really bright and easy to see and I like the reassurance of knowing that the parent unit is linked with the baby unit (there is an alarm if it is not).

The baby unit is great - the lullabies really work and the nightlight is just bright enough to see what you are doing. My husband and I use the talkback function to 'order' help or supplies - essential when you cant leave your baby unattended.

One of my favourite things though is that the parent unit doesnt look like a childs toy - there's enough of those in the house already. The rubber buttons can be cleaned easily and its all dead easy to use.

Overall, a great product that I would thoroughly recommend.

Great product, very clear. All the other I have seen have interference. Have bought it as a gift for 3 different people all who loved it.

"The best available"
My wife and I purchased the Tomy Platinum, believing this to be the best on the market...quite frankly, we were underwhelmed. While on holiday with friends, we tried their BT Baby Monitor 150 and found it to be vastly superior. Upon return from holiday, we immediately purchased the BT monitor online. The Tomy Platinum cost us £99.99 and my wife managed to sell it online for £80. The BT Baby Monitor 150 was £69.99, so we actually 'got £10 back' by making the upgrade to the BT monitor.

In terms of value, the BT monitor vastly outstrips the leading Tomy monitor - it is £30 cheaper and has better sound quality, more functionality, and is smaller and more pleasing on the eye.

The key aspect of the BT Baby Monitor 150 that we like is the incredibly clear sound. BT uses digital DECT technology and then enriches the sound with something called Hi Definition Sound that they have developed in their labs. We have great fun when friends are over hiding the parental unit in the lounge room and watching their reactions when our daughter makes any little sounds...it is as if she is in the room with us.

We like most of the other featres, which are so well thought through...even down to the torch that is just the right brightness to see in the darkened nursery without waking our little sweetheart.

BT was not an obvious brand choice for us in baby monitors, but they have produced a product of outstanding quality and value.

"Can't recommend enough"
After reading reviews of the various baby monitors on the market, this one had the most consistently rave reviews and feedback. And they weren't wrong!

The sound quality is brilliant - I can hear every breath that Alex takes, which is reassurring for a worrier like myself! The mp3 feature is also a great idea, meaning that I can record my own voice and play it to Alex, which is often the only way I can get him settled.

Like the other reviews have said, the light is a handy addition for checking up on the little one without waking them up.

I cannot recommend this monitor enough for making your life that little bit easier.

"Peace at last!"
I've always been a worrier, but the BT Baby Monitor 150 has really given me peace of mind. Before, I would go and check on Gracie every 10 minutes or so, but now I can hear her breathing so I know she's ok and sleeping soundly.

The Mp3 feature is great too. I often play music to Gracie via the monitor which really helps to calm her down if she's upset. My husband works away, but now he can record messages for Gracie on the baby monitor which I play to her.

BT have thought about everything with the Baby Monitor 150 - I really love the handy night-light feature too. I'm trying to think of something bad to say about it but I really can't - I'd definitely recommend it to any new Mum!

"Product for peace of mind"
After looking into many products on the market, the BT 150 digital baby monitor sounded perfect for us and the MP3 capability sounded ideal.

The sound quality was amazing and we are able to hear Daniel breathing, which is really reassuring, especially with your first child. I really liked the fact that i could play my own music and not just the traditional nursery rhymes.

The talk back facility was really impressive and enabled us to talk and calm Daniel down even though we were in a different room, this also saved our legs because we weren't making constant trips upstairs.

We found the temperature gauge reassuring and the night light really handy, and could check on Daniel without turning the main light on.

I would really recommend this product and i've bought one for my sister who's expecting her first child in a few months.

"Essential item"
I had bought another monitor to begin with and the interference was terrible, so after doing some research I found the BT150 and it sounded ideal and it has been. The quality of sound is so clear with no interference at all.

I am able to put Matthew to bed and get on with other things without having to go and check on him all the time. If Matthew does wake the ability to talk to him via the monitor is brilliant he often just goes back to sleep when he hears my voice.

You can also play music, check the temperature of the room and the unit has a light.

Overall an excellent buy with complete peace of mind and well worth paying any extra pennies for.

"bt 150 digital baby monitor"
we decided on this baby monitor after reading several reviews on different makes and finding the most consistent praise about this model and i have to say i completely agree. the sound is absolutley crystal clear!! i hear every breath from my daughter and i find it such a reassurance they feel like a tiny step away from actually having baby in the room with you, i have complete peace of mind and feel less of an urge to go into her room every 5 minutes to check on her (although i always sneak a goodnight kiss before i go to bed!) therefore disturb her much less than before. an absolute fantastic monitor its so simple to use and an absolute bargain for peace of mind!

"Crystal Clear"
After extensive research from friends, colleagues, and on-line on every review site we decided on this monitor because there were no reports of interference from other devices and because it had the ability to connect up an MP3 player.

Lewis attended very many concerts during my pregnancy and is particularly used to hearing Goldfrapp and Muse so the ability to be able to play music was essential!

As it happens we bought a CD of Lullaby's which sends him to sleep EVERY time.

We can control the volume, start the music again (it times out after 5 - 10 minutes) and control the volume remotely via the parent unit.

The polyphonic music supplied drives us both mental so the ability to be able to put some of our own music on is fantastic.

We also love the fact you can shove a load of batteries into the child device so when access to a plug socket is an effort we can still listen in. So far the batteries have lasted a month.

We have also found the temperature alarm useful so we can keep his room at the right temperature without having to buy something else.

I also like being able to mute the unit knowing that if Lewis is screaming and I'm out of earshot the device will bleep and vibrate if you want it too.

Only niggles are the rechargeable batteries in the parent unit don't seem to hold their charge for long and the light on the unit isn't fantastic.

Overall a brilliant sanity saving device - which not only helps Lewis to sleep - but also enables slightly paranoid first time parents to listen to him breathing - the sound quality is THAT good.
