Number of reviews: 1 Overall score: Available from www.dk.com, price £12.99 One of the best practical books I've seen on pregnancyParent Panel review by Val - review date 7 August 2007Publisher:Dorling Kindersley Authors: Dr Christoph Lees & Grainne McCartan, RGN Overview Overall this is this is one of the best practical books I've seen on pregnancy, as it's very easy to read and covers everything from preparing for pregnancy through to the first six weeks of your baby's life. It was written by an Obsetrician and a Midwife. It also covers things like sex in pregnancy, when to finish work, even things like is it better to tear naturally or have a episiotomy. It also has an indepth index at the back, as well as 8 separate chapters, making it quick to find what you are looking for.Good Points As this is my first pregnancy, I found the book very useful as it asks so many questions, even questions I haven't thought of. It is in depth and very practical and informative and I have found it a great asset. I will find it specially helpful when preparing a birthing plan, and have found it helpful that it shows what a delivery room looks like. The other good point is that it also covers how you can be feeling. Bad Points As this is such an informative book, I feel you would generally look up what is relevant to yourself, however it could maybe cause concern by listing all the problems that can happen in pregnancy, but can also let you know if something is serious or minor based on the symptoms.
