"good product with bad points!!"
this was the first ever carseat we brought for my eldest son, and the main reason for us chosening it was simply because of the fitting guide. it has two differnt fitting guides.

it is also a rear-ward/forward facing car seat. so we thought that this would save us money! however, i found it very annoying to get a newborn in and out of this car seat as you have to sort of squease your baby either over or through the car seat strap. Also its not an overly room caryseat. My son is now 20 months and we are looking to have to get a new carseat and hes simply to big for it. we have to take his coat off to get him in his carseat and strap him in.

Not the best buy i have made, i have to admit

"s'okay!"
We chose this car seat because it covered both groups. But I find it hard to use. You have to get the baby through the little gap above the seat belt, when i work out how to get the thing done up I will be happy and it leaves no room in the front seat for any passengers. It is good value though and I think will be great when AC is forward facing - only another 10 months to go!

"Yes it's good, BUT..."
I bought the First Class Si for my second daughter who grew out if her Group 0 seat at 5 months (yep, she's a Big Girl...). I specifically wanted a seat that covered Groups 0+1 so she could stay rear-facing as long as possible.

Good points: I feel reassured by the side-impact protection system; it feels a very sturdy, safe seat; it's quick and easy to install between cars; it seems lovely and comfy for the baby; it affords the baby a brilliant view, even when rear-facing.

BUT... here are the features that after a month of use I'm not massively happy about:

It's fine if you install it with the car seatbelt each time, but when rear-facing you have to 'post' your baby through a gap between the car's seat belt and the top of the car door. Tricky with a big, heavy baby. I'm also not convinced that the seat is a great 'fit' to our car - it doesn't seem as securely fixed as other car seats (it wobbles sideways significantly). But to be fair, it's solid when *front* facing. Maybe it's our car (Ford Focus). And a minor niggle: the release catch to adjust the harness looser is a nightmare to find - you have to poke your finger through a hole and feel for it. I lost skin the first few times.

All in all, I prefer my elder daughter's Maxi Cosi Tobi TBH, but that can't be rear-facing; this can, so its VFM can't be faulted.

"Great buy to last a few years"
I bought this seat for my first child when he was 3 months old to use as a second car seat. It was great as it can fit into older style cars easily as it has 2 different fitting mechanisms.

The newborn insert is very good and made him look very secure in a bigger seat. The recline is very easy to use. I am now using it as a forward facing seat and it is still roomy enough for my now 2 year old with a padded coat and I've had my friend's 3 year old in it too with no swashing problems.

The only downside is that it seems a bit longer than other seats so that when it's reclined in the forward facing possition there is very little leg room and you need to have the front seat moved quite far forward. It is also nice and padded compared to others which I really liked as we go on quite a few long journeys. It's a great buy for a seat which will last you a while. Would definately recommend.

"Great value for money"
We used this seat from our son being about 3 months, after I got fed up of fixing the seatbelt round the infant carrier each time. It felt secure in the car and because our son was higher up, once he got past the stage of falling asleep on every trip he was able to look out of the back window of the car. It's a great choice of seat if you are not bothered about having a 'travel system' pram that you can clip a baby car seat onto. I'll use it from birth with any future children.

My son is now 2 years and 3 months and seems very happy with the seat. The harness is very easy to adjust, and in contrast to what one of the other reviers said you should actually adjust the harness each time you put a child in a seat to make sure they are secure for each journey.

My one negative point about this seat is that when you use it rear-facing it totally blocks your view out of the window that it is positioned next to. We had to put the seat behind the drivers seat when it was rear-facing because when it was on the passenger side I found it blocked my view when reversing onto my drive.

"great buy!"
We were kindly brought this by my husband's aunts when our son started to get just that bit too big for his 1st baby car seat. I'm sure it is brilliant for use from birth but we had a travel system with car seat as it suited us best. Anyway, this car seat is a brilliant interim car seat if your bub is too big for a 1st stage but still a little young for the 2nd stage as you can install it rear facing for a while. Our son loved being high enough to nose out of the window, and after a month or so we turned it round and he loved it even more! It seems immensely secure and safe.

Only slight gripes would be that it is quite tricky to install so its not the best design for taking in and out of cars, as you have to get the seat belt lined up just right which is quite tricky as you can't overly see what's going on - I usually end up having to kneel down on the ground!! But if you are using the same car all the time then it is perfect and my husband has quickly become very proficient at installing and de-installing. Another problem is that the straps - even when you adjust them to fit the baby perfectly - seem to, when putting him back in, somehow slip back so that you end up having to adjust them to fit almost everytime. But it is excellent quality and very good value for money.

"Comfy and Easy to fit"
I am so pleased with the First Class SI car seat. I wanted a car seat that could be used from birth from 4 years as it seemed like a great way to save money, and Milly has been comfy in it right from her first trip home from hospital! The newborn insert kept her upright and she seems to be equally comfortable without when she got too big. The seat is large compared to the little car seats designed to be carried around, but is nicely padded, and easy to wipe clean. We have used it in a few different cars and once you've got the hang of it, it is easy and quick to fit, and light to carry. Milly seems to be in a good position, not hunched over, and she loves looking out of the window! A brilliant buy!
