"Matrix: think twice"
I read loads of reviews about the pros and cons of the Jane Matrix car seat before buying one 6 months ago.
I loved the idea of the lie-flat feature, which worked really well- apart from the very noisy velcro restrain strap which woke the baby every time we took her out of the seat!
By the time the baby was 4 months old I was concerned about how strong the velcro strap was and so we now only use the seat upright.
In this position the shoulder straps were very difficult to adjust as the button that you need to press is right up against the back of the seat of your car.
We also found that the poppers on the apron came off the fabric the very first time that we used it.
But I found that the worst feature of this car seat was the carry handle which stopped clicking into position making it unsafe and unsecure when lifting it. I returned my seat twice within the first 3 months to get it fixed. The seat broke once more and I was eventually offered a replacement.
Last week my husband was lifting the baby out of the car and the handle gave way again. If she hadn't been strapped in she would have been seriously injured.
This has once again been returned to the shop to be fixed and we are waiting for it to be returned.
In the meantime I am using an eight year old car seat on loan from a friend (which is much lighter and easier to use)and I am a lot happier using this.
Such a pity, as the Jane Carrera Pro wheel base is really fantastic and this system could have been so good.
