Sleep wrap to keep babies on their backs

Available from www.cleverlittlethings.co.uk, price £34.99

Will help your little one get a good nights sleep

Test length: 2 months
Parent Panel review by Michelle - review date 17 January 2006
If your little one tends to end up in the coldest corner of the cot, kicks off blankets or scares you half to death trying to get out the cot using a step ladder of soft toys then this product is a must!! It keeps baby in a set position all night long, helps to make baby feel safe and snug and gives mum and dad a wonderful nights sleep. The product will attach to a moses basket, cot and even a first bed mattress (eventuallly stopping your little one rolling out of bed too!!) Its a doddle to use once you have fitted it. The only added extra they should add would be a wash bag to stop the velcro becoming entangled with the rest of your washing (but a pillow case works just as well).

Best Feature: The peace of mind it brings
Worst Feature: Fitting can take a while to get right

"Magic cure for reflux"
I got mine for first-born when his reflux problems had me at my wits end. I was able to elevate his cot without him sliding out, and have him safely sleep on his side. Finally we all got a good nights sleep. 17 months on and I still use it for him, and have just got another for the new baby. First-born sleeps much more soundly with it than without, as he doesn't get himself in a pickle with his head in a corner or arms out of the bars, but can still roll over from front to back as he likes. He also can't stand up and jump up and down when really tired instead of just going to sleep. Perfect as a travel cot too. My desert-island baby product for sure!

"Great news for caravan holidays"
Last year when we were going on our first caravan trip with our then 6 month old baby (who was by then far too big for a moses basket) I searched high and low for something I could use for him to safely sleep in in our caravan as a normal travel cot just wouldn't have fitted. Finally I found the Safe T Sleep Wrap on a NZ website and ordered it.

It fits easily around a cot matress or in our case the sofa cushion making up the single bed and stops the baby rolling off the bed. I wondered how well he would sleep and worried it would restrict his movement but it was fine. The only thing thet worries me slightly is having to us safety pins where he could get to them.

This product is designed for use on basically anything ie a sofa cushion to make a makeshift bed so is great for space saving when visiting friends and also for boating holidays apparently to stop the child falling from bed.

We are about to start our caravan holidays again so wonder how well he will do now he is 18 months. Should be fine I think.

"A surprising product"
Initially we were rather doubtful about the effectiveness of this product. On first inspection it looked quite complicated and "fussy". We were also concerned that our daughter would find it quite restrictive, but after reading the instructions and trying it out, we found that this was not the case. Before receiving this product our daughter was prone to wriggling about in her cot, often turning 180 degrees in her sleep! The Safe T Sleep Wrap, however, now prevents this from happening. She now sleeps much more comfortably and soundly throughout the night...which means that Mummy and Daddy do too!

"A good idea"

The instructions were easy to follow but I was a little put off by the fact

that it said you needed to use a safety pin (two for bigger children)

yet it didn't supply these. I haven't got safety pins so had to buy a

packet. Putting it on the cot was relatively simple, though it took me a little while to figure it out! The material was nice and it was very snuggly for Joshua to sleep in.

My son always sleeps well and he knew that it was time to get up when he heard me undo the velcro. I can see it easily becoming a trigger to sleep when they have it on and a trigger that it's time to get up when they hear the velcro.

The Safe T Sleep is made from lovely thick cotton. It's strangely cool to get into but very warm once your baby has been in it for a while. It's also quite a versatile product - you could take on your travels and sleep your baby in any single bed, which is great for those who don't want to lug a travel cot around with them. You can use it on any mattress from a crib and moses basket to single bed.

I'm not sure if I would recommend it to friends, it's something that is not an essential purchase and really doesn't help or make any difference to Joshua's sleeping patterns. However, it does have lots of benefits such as travelling, the fact that you can use it from birth and get your child to recognise it as a sleep trigger. You can also hold your baby on their side to sleep, which helps prevent babies getting a flat head at the back.

"Useful for keeping baby safe in his cot."
I was very sceptical about this product, thinking that "pinning" my son to his cot would cause him to scream the house down. But, I must admit that this was not the case and my son slept as normal. I found the inital fitting to be awkward but once on (and I had read the instructions again), it was much easier to re-fit. The Safe-T-Sleep did what it promised - prevented my son from rolling over and moving himself around the cot which meant he didn't get himself as worked up as he sometimes does at nap times. It didn't affect how well he slept overnight though, so its no miracle worker if that's what you're expecting. It did have a tendancy to ruck up either side of the wrap bit, so it needed refitting almost every sleep.

"Great for peace of mind at sleep times!"
Have told all my friends about this product because I would not be without it. So easy to fit to the cot mattress and am then reassured that my little boy won't get his arms and legs trapped in the bars of the cot.
