A good all round range that babies and toddlers enjoy

Parent Panel review by Sue - review date 30 November 2007
We tested lots of different ranges from Heinz in the recent food test and really enjoyed them. The rice cakes, biscottis and stir in sauces are great for a toddler and my little one was most fond of the Mum's Own purees and puree and simple organic pots.

The round the world meals are a bit different and although my older boy didn't seem to particularly like them, from a mum's perspective they tasted far better than the rest!

All in all, a good all round range that's accessible to all mums - rich and poor. Extremely high on convenience too, most meals and jars are ready in just a few minutes.

Very smelly!

Parent Panel review by Danielle - review date 6 April 2006
I tried my son with the Chicken puree and mixed it with vegetables and I tasted it first to see what it was like and I thought it tasted vile, but I thought I will test him out with it just incase, but he disliked it that much he was heaving. It smells and tastes horrible. I would rather make my own. Perhaps the other flavours are better!

Best Feature: Easy to spoon into food.
Worst Feature: Smell and taste
Verdict: Wouldnt buy again

My son loves the beef and chicken, not tried the others - yet! So muh easier than cooking mean and trying to puree it yourself!

"not sure"
WEe tried a number of different flavours of 4 month + as our second son is just over four months. He hates plain baby rice, but loves anything with flavour. We tried the jars with him and he ate the sweet jars ok. But the savoury ones he didn't really want to take. As with another review the smell is not great hence the reason not sure in the title. Loved how easy it is to use though. Pop the lid off, and away you go.

"Not our favourite"
This didn't rate highly with our daughter although there is a huge range to choose from. She much preferred the Hipp Organic jars and baby organix rice cakes.

Handy to carry in the changing bag for emergency meals but there are other makes on the market for a similar price.

"Interesting range that offers more than just the usual"
I was impressed with the new offering from Heinz. There are so many more products and tastes to choose from now (compared to when I was weaning my 3 year old) I think most mums would be spoilt for choice.

Brianna wasn't too keen on some of the meals which was a shame but she did go nuts for the rice cakes and really enjoyed the fruit puree and simple pots. She also liked the breakfast porridges which was great as they're super easy to prepare and serve.

I was pleased to see that heinz are doing a lot of new organic products. I think feeding the best ingredients to your baby is the priority of most parents weaning their baby so surely this will open up their range to a lot more parents.

All in all, a really good choice at a good price.

"Good convenience food for hungry tots"
My daughter loves the Heinz biscottis and the meals go down pretty well too. She used to have the Mum's own purees when she was first weaned, along with the puree and simple organic weaning pots.

Latest favourites are the apple rice cakes and fruit pots, along with the stir in sauces which are great for lazy cooks who don't want to compromise on taste or decent ingredients.

I think the Heinz offering is huge and mums would be hard pushed to find something their baby or toddler dislikes...very good for those on a budget too as it's very reasonably priced.

"great time saver"
Great to mix with vegetables I had already prepared & kept in the freezer in individual little pots. My son loved the beef & cod purees, but the chicken & turkey were rejected - they didn't look or smell appetising to me either!

"A novel idea that works"
These purees are really designed to make life easier for mums - you cook your own ingredients and simply add the purees to create a flavoured dish that your baby will enjoy.

George loved the cod with potatoes puree but the beef and chicken purees went down like a lead balloon and I found that he preferred them with a touch of stock or mixed with his usual favourite - tomatoes with red onion and cheese!

I think they are a great way to add flavour to foods - especially if you're pushed for time and want to create a meal in just a few minutes. You can also freeze them once they've been added to food.

This is a good idea that works well in practice(I just wish my son had enjoyed them a bit more!)
