I have just put my Baby Einstein gym away as my daughter is now six and a half months and is sitting up unaided.
I have used this gym since she was about a week old, the bright colours and the musical star really held her interest even as a newborn. As there are plenty of different toys, lying her on the mat at a different angle each time we put her down meant she never got bored.
The mat also comes with a half moon shaped pillow to help with tummy time, we found she enjoyed tummy time much more under the gym as she had plenty to look at.
It was a gift given to us by the baby's Grandmother so I'm not sure if we would have thought it an essential to buy ourselves but we have used it most days in her first six months so whilst expensive to begin with you get your monies worth.
The only slightly negative thing I can say about it is that the batteries don't last as long as many other toys, they are triple AAA's and we have had to replace them a lot.
Best Feature: It's versatility
Worst Feature: Batteries don't last long
Verdict: Stimulating may for a baby

"From before birth to 8+ months"
We bought the Baby Einstein gym before Jack was born, and I started regularly playing the detachable musical light up star to my tummy!
The music playing is lovely, soothing and encapturing compared to all the VTech music and annoying voices I hear these days!
The gym has plenty to keep hold of a babies attention and Jack loved laying on his, and then rolling around under it when he was a bit older. As well as the toys included that squeak or crinkle at different heights, it has spare rings to hang other toys from which we did.
The pillow for tummy time was used by us with and without the gym, and we then used the mat of the gym without the arches when he was sitting unaided. Brilliant buy.

"very entertaining lots to see and do"
georgia loved baby einstein discover and play gym. When she was very young she was so contend lying looking at all the dangling animals and lovley bright colours, and enjoyed listening to the classical music (who knows it may have made her the next einstein!!)The gym uses vibrant colours and lots of sounds and feelings - the mirror and photoframe were a nice touch too!

"Great Product"
I got this for a gift from the baby shower, she has loved her baby einstein discover and play. We put her in it when she was just a few weeks old.
It plays music and has flashing light's on the star.
Washes up great when anything gets on it.

"A great product!"
I was bought this as a gift for my son at birth. It is great and he has loved it from a few weeks old, and still loves it. There is a battery operated star that plays classical music and flashing lights (the music is not as irratating as it could be!). Ben loves the music and the lights so now I have it set so any movement of the gym can trigger the music & lights. Ben has now figured this out himself and he can start it by pulling on the various toys!
There are various settings for the music and lights and the toys are all good quality, bright and colourful. Ben can been content under this gym for over an hour (I leave him playing along as he is happy!). All the attachments including the star are easily removable and the entire gym is fairly portable (especially if you keep the bag it comes in)
Only one slight negative it that the mat could be more padded. Although I did not pay for it, it is quite expensive (but we do use it everyday so I guess it is money well spent!)Highly recommended.
