Unusual Baby Carrier
Test length: 6 weeks
Parent Panel review by Amanda Davey

Portability and ease of use:
The carrier came in a nice little bag and folded up reasonably small. However due to the padding, it's not exactly something you could just throw in your bag to take with you in case you wanted it! My daughter was 10 months (weighing 9+ kilos) combined with an ongoing sciatica (back) problem so I had no option but to use the carrying on the back option as opposed to the front one and could not even try the carrying on the hip one. The back option is really tricky to get used to, as you have to support the baby on your back whilst trying to get the baby into the carrier. In all, I found it very awkward and difficult to get used to.
Practicality/ looks/ versatility:
It looked very good, and comes in a range of colours. The cotton used is nice and soft and it is machine washable.
Space/ comfort:
Once again, this did not feel right as my daughter does have chubby little thighs (breast milk - its good stuff!) and we felt the straps across the top of her legs were never 100% comfortable - once of course we had managed to finally manoeuvre her in! Also, as I have long hair, it was tricky as she thought it was a great game to pull my hair all the time!
The sleeping hood was a good feature - they said it could be used as a sun hood if carrying on the front, but I think it could be used for the back carrying feature too.
Best Feature: Looks great
Worst Feature: Not easy to use
Verdict: Provides support for baby but I found it complicated to use

"Ergo"
A friend saw me try and put this sling on and made me promise never to use it again. It is so difficult to put your baby onto your back alone. The front position is easier and not as comfy but the back position is very scary to get your baby into. Fortunately I borrowed this sling, as it is quite expensive. However, if there is someone around to help lift the baby into the back position it is really comfortable to carry your baby in. You could walk for hours!

"best carrier ever"
if you like the idea of wraps and understand how much better it is for baby carrying it with legs spread apart and the weight evenly distributed from knee to knee with butt sitting lower there is no other carrier (and you wonder why anyone buys a bjorn who puts the weight onto baby's crotch). It goes on in seconds, easily adjustable and you can carry toddlers. My baby sleeps in it on planes, when I sit, walk etc. I could not live without it. Think it's better for 6months+

"total waste of money time and effort"
Having decided we wanted a child carrier we bought the ergo, well i wish i hadnt, trying to get it on if your on your own is practically impossible also our son did not look comfortable at all. i would sugest if your thinking of buying a child carrier spend that little bit more on a framed carrier, the diffence in ease of use and and comfort is amazing no needs or elbows in your back and the loading is much more easyier

"Phew at last, a sling that's easy to use."
When my little girl was born I fell into the trap of buying a conventional Bushbaby type carrier from a high street store. After a few months I discovered I could no longer use it as my daughter felt impossibly heavy and it really pulled on my back and shoulders.
I decided to research a lot more about slings and decided that the Ergo was the best option for me. It was everything and more that I hoped it would be.
It's extremely easy to use. No ties/knots required as it's all buckles. This was essential as my husband was using it too.
It's very lightweight and machine washes great.
Comes with a handy hood and front pouch for keys, nappy and wipes if you want.
The straps are easily adjusted and fit both my size 6 frame and my husbands.
The design of the sling means that my daughter feels light as a feather even at 1 yr of age.
The great thing about this sling is the way the baby's posture is encouraged into the correct position. Rather than hanging by their crotch they are positioned in a seating position against your body.
The only downside is it's fairly functional/rucksack looking. It's not the prettiest of slings in comparison to something like a Babyhawk Mei Tai.
The back carry position is fairly easy once you get used to it.
I'm now pregnant again so am going to buy the newborn insert for it too.
All in all, a fabulous product.

"I actually cried with happiness!"
After my dd outgrew her Babybjorn i still wanted to have the option of taking her out with out the pushchair - especially with a toddler on a bike. I'm not a sling type woman - just can't get on with knots so we went for a framed carrier and I hated it. It gave me mastitis and left me aching and uncomfortable.
Then I saw someone with an Ergo and decided to try it.
Mine arrived yesterday and I love it. I can hardly tell my dd is in it it's so comfy and I was even able to carry my ds in it with no difficulty!
I'm not exaggerating when I say I cried at how comfy and easy it was to use (bit tricky with a baby but once you get the hang of it it's no problem).
