It took us ages to find a seat from the babyworld warehouse that fitted our car (older model)properly; I was beginning to think all was lost! But, as soon as the Priori was put in the car, you could see it would be the best option for us. Thanks to the seat-belt tensioner I can get a really solid fit every time and it's very easy to make sure that the harness is tight enough around Xander. The recline is very easy to use (from either driver or passenger seats) which has been a godsend. I haven't tried removing or washing the seat cover yet, but I might get a summer cover to make this a bit easier. Adjusting the harness height for Xander was also much easier than I'd expected it would be.

Best Feature: The brilliant fit in my car
Worst Feature: I would feel happier if an additional head-hugger was included
Verdict: Excellent quality and very easy for me to fit safely every time

This seat is very easy to use - you simply buckle the clips together and hold in place when fastening. The instructions are easy to follow and the straps fit over the handles to allow you to put the child in without them sitting on them! It's also easy to fit and take in and out of the car and it has an extra lap belt tensioner to hold it firmly in place.

The Maxi Cosi is very comfortable! Emily falls asleep in it when stationary. It also has adjustable height straps and a removable, washable cover. One of the best things is the fantastic recliner that can be used when stopping at traffic lights as it's so easy to operate from the front seat (not that I have tried!!) In short, it feels like a good quality seat.

Ease of Use/Fitting in Car: The Maxi Cosi is so easy to install in the car and the CD rom instructions are simple and straightforward. It took me less than ten minutes to get it fitted and checked and once installed the seat looks and feels extremely robust and sturdy - very reassuring.

Portability: It's quite heavy (especially with baby inside!) but as with most group 1 seats, you're unlikely to take it out of the car much so it's not a huge issue. If you do need to take it out, you simply undo the belt clamp at the front, unplug the seatbelt and lift the seat out - easy.

Comfort/Quality: This has to be the deluxe version of all group 1's! It looks like one big cosy armchair and baby can snuggle into it whilst on the move. The soft fabrics were surprisingly easy to clean and having looked at many other seats, this one offered the most comfort for baby.

Additional Extras: The recline mechanism is so smooth and because the switch is at the front of the seat, you can even reach back and tilt it whilst in the driving seat. The one pull harness is also a godsend for adjusting the straps in a rush and I think the quality and overall style of the seat is nothing short of fantastic. I'm recommending the Maxi Cosi to all of my friends.

Best Feature: The smooth recline
Worst Feature: There isn't one
Verdict: A brilliant buy

Very practicle

Parent Panel review by Maria - review date 3 October 2005
I love this car seat as it is easy to install and remove and I like the fact that you can recline it when baby is sleeping. It's very secure and you can get an ultra tight fitting in the car so it doesn't move around at all. However, when I washed the cover it has now frayed around the holes at the top.

Best Feature: Recline
Worst Feature: Material frays when washed
Verdict: Excellent and practical car seat, would recommend.

"Decisions Decisions"
We hummed and hah-ed about the next stage of car seat and after trailing through reviews narrowed it down to two; the Maxi-Cosi Priori XP and the Bebe Confort Axiss. But having watched the video of the latter on their own website we decided on the Maxi-Cosi for the simple reason that the woman on the video seemed to struggle (albeit elegantly) with the installation and manoevering of the seat so I thought what chance is there for me! Also, there are so many excellent reviews about the Maxi-Cosis and only a limited number on the Bebe Confort Axiss. Have to say I am thrilled with my choice and would highly recommend the seat but also that you buy where they will give you a proper demo and you the chance to fiddle around with it and check that you are doing things right whilst there is a bod there to guide you. My boy looks extremely comfy in his new seat!

"Great seat, just dont wash it!"
We bought a maxi cosi priori seat when my youngset was 9 months, picked the lovely pink one for my first girl! Love the seat, fits our car along with 2 others, [Renault espace for all of you struggling to fit it into your cars] very comfy for my daughter falls asleep in it stationary and is sturdy and fits securely in the car seat with the belt tension bar. My only complaint is that the cover is awful to wash, it has frayed everywhere within the main sitting area of the seat, following even a gentle 30 degree wash, it has been washed 2 or 3 times in the time we have had it which sounds horrid and we all know how dirty car seats can get! Iam currently trying to source a replacement cover but the only one i can find is cream! Not my1st choice we need a nice dark black one.

No complaints at all. We loved it so much we bought 2 as there was a sale. It is secure and comfortable. I'd definitely buy again.

"best stage 1 seat ever!"
I bought the priori xp recently and have found it to be an excelent seat after having 8yrs experience of looking after children and coming accross many different seats i can honestly say this has been the best. It is a perfect fit in my car (pug) and it seams very comfy (no complaints from bubs!) It has lovely deep sides which is great for when bubs falls asleep as his head is well suported. The recline mode is easy to use and very smooth. It looks lovely and blends in well with the interior of my car. You can get it in a range of differnt colours so you can go for an executive neat looking one or choose on of the more viberant funky designs! But at the end of the day its the childs safety that counts and this is deffinatly a must have in that respect! The belt tightner is great and gives you the extra piece of mind. It is also so easy to install and the straps are easy to adjust without having the hasstle of removing the seat and messing around at the back! I will definatly recomended this seat to anyone looking for the best stage 1 seat!

"Fantastic Car Seat"
My husband and I love this car seat. We bought 2 for our son as we needed one for each of our cars. It is easy to fit and manage daily. Our sin loves it as he falls asleep in minutes which is a good sign. I would recommend this to any parent looking at an upgrade. the only downside was that it does not fit my mothers car - Nissan Terrano. This would have saved us having to buy something else as she has him 2 days a week.

"Easy to use car seat"
Fairly easy to use and easy to adjust fittings. Comfy and cushioned material and has a recline unlike most car seats for this age group, very useful.

"fantastic - best on the market"
This is by far the best car seat I have ever bought! The recline is so easy to use, the seat belt tensioner makes this the snuggest fit in the car. The seat itself is well padded, a lot more comfortable for my baby than any other seat I looked at. We do a lot of long distance driving & she normally sleeps all the way.

Safe, secure, comfy & practical.

"2nd to none"
After lots of research we chose this seat as all the reviews I read put the Priori in 1st place. Charlie is comfy cosy in it, and all the features mean it is easy to fit and use. Would recommend it to anyone.

"Will definately be buying another!"
We had the Cabrio at first for DS so it seemed a natural progression to go for the Priori XP as Maxi Cosi have such good safety levels.

It is so easy to install and is often put into Grandpa's car for days out too, it even went to Spain with us and DS loved sitting in it on the plane - the only way to get a first class seat in economy!

I can honestly say we have had no problems with it and will definately be buying another one for number 2 when he/she needs it.

"Brilliant"
I bought this one as it was recommended to me by all the ladies from my NCT class. Sam loves it and looks so comfy in it. I love the recline option and as well as being one of the safest it looks good as well. Wish I'd got it here though - its cheaper :-(

"Liked it so much I bought... 4..."
We have two boys... aged 1 and 3... and have two cars.

As a result we need 4 car seats.

If you asked me what I thought of the Priori XP, all I can say is that we have 4 of them in total... and couldn't find anything to beat them.

It is even possible to get them in different trims... so they even match the interiors of the cars.

An excellent seat. Although do shop around... as we paid £100 for each one... but could have paid £149 if we hadn't checked around - and £49 x 4 would have made a bit of a dent in the wallet...

"Really good seat..."
I Bought this seat in the really funky zebra print and just love it!

It is very comfy for my daughter who is 22 months old and it's really good that it reclines so she can sleep in the car.

In the 'which' report it was found to be the safest model of car seat in its category aswell which is very re-assuring for parents.

It is really easy and quick to fit and put in and out of car.

I'm going to buy another one for my other girl who is 12 weeks when she is old enough to go in one!

"Maxi Cosi Priori XP Car Seat"
I have had the Maxi Cosi Priori XP for 4 months now and both myself and Millie (my daughter) love it!

The seat seems so comfortable and 9/10 times Millie falls asleep even before we get around the corner! The sides are well padded and the straps have a good guard to stop them from digging in when fastening the belts.

What I love most about the Maxi Cosi is the way it's so easy to change the seat position - from sitting up-right to being reclined. This can even be done from the drivers seat whilst sitting in traffic!!

To install the seat is very simple and it feels secure.

The seat covering is very practical too and looks good!

"Simple, sturdy and stylish"
We love this seat. Having tried several different Group 1's at babyworld's demonstration unit, we found the Maxi Cosi was by far the best option for our car. It slotted onto our back seat perfectly and is so simple and easy to use - I'm really happy with our choice.

Although it's heavy, it's reasonably portable and is easy to transport between cars - perfect if you're lucky enough to own two vehicles and use them both regularly. We tend to stick with just the one so it's a rareity for us to extract it from the back seat of our Vauxhall Astra.

A bonus for me is the recliner - it's so simple to use, you can even operate it from the driving seat (whilst stopped at traffic lights - obviously!) Fin seems to like the soft, cosy fabrics and sleeps soundly in it when we venture out on long trips.

The harness is easy to use and offers a secure and easily adjustable fit for baby.

All in all a brilliant seat that offers a safe, sturdy home for baby - I would recommend it to anyone.
