About reusables

Ten years ago, only 2% of mothers were purchasing reusable nappies. This figure has risen dramatically, as up to 35% of mothers buying reusable nappies today, as revealed by an independent research report so, real nappies have really come into their own in recent years. Gone are the days of square terry cloths and a safety pin - nowadays it's all about all in ones (or AIO's as they're known by our savvy testers), trendy wraps, pocket nappies, nippa fastenings and organic cotton.

The internet is bombarded with companies selling reusable nappies and the choice is bigger than ever.

But before you buy, our panel advise to 'scour the internet for reviews' and 'speak to other mums who have used real nappies to see what's worked for them'. It's also worth taking advantage of a nappy trial system that allows you to test a selection of nappies and wraps before making a commitment.

Our panel have tested 20 different reusable nappies, including birth-potty options ('great for longevity or those on a budget'), nappy systems incorporating reusable or disposable nappy pads ('more versatility for busy mums') and organic popper-fastened nappies ('super-soft and kind on delicate skin').
