This month's panel have spent the past three months putting six monitors
through a set of strict testing criteria. Here they give their honest
opinions on the features and benefits of each model on test.
  BT
Digital Baby Monitor Plus - 10/10
Great value digital monitor that's packed with features
Price: £65
Supplier:
Babyworld
Shop
'Versatile monitor with brilliant sound quality'
This was the easiest
to set up and it comes with a whole host of additional features, including
a temperature indicator, talk back facility, sound sensitive lights, temperature
indicator and nightlight. Our panel were particularly impressed with the
flawless sound transmission which was 'a cut above the others on test'.
Great value but possibly
a bit pricey for some.
Bosie
Boo Baby Video Monitor - 8/10
Wireless Video monitor
Price: £115
Supplier: www.bosieboo.com
T: 0800 180 4225
'Total reassurance'
A stylish
monitor with both audio and visual technology, it can be mains or battery
operated and can connect to the television. Other features include 4 channels
for optimum sound with built in infra-red vision for night time use.
The
camera can make you a bit obsessive and our panel found they were 'looking
at the screen every five minutes to check on baby'. It also has a 100m
range so it's 'probably not the best option for big houses or garden use'.

Panasonic
DECT Phone - 6/10
Multi purpose monitor, phone and answering machine
Price: £129.99
Available from: www.panasonic.co.uk
T: 08705 357 357
'Stylish and versatile but not for everyone'est'
Good for
parents who work from home, the Panasonic is an all in one option that
allows you to use your phone whilst monitoring your baby from anywhere
in the house. Our panel liked the flexibility it offered and it has a
built in talk back facility so you can soothe your child without immediately
going to them.
It's
tricky to set up and instructions aren't clear. Our panel also felt that
a lot of the features it offered are now available with conventional telephones
so it's not particularly outstanding. Picture and sound quality also needed
improvement
Phillips
DECT Deluxe Baby Monitor -8/10
Price: £90
Available from: www.philips.com/babycare
T: 0845 601 0354
'Great for gadget-lovers'
Superb digital sound
that ensures no interference, this monitor is stylish and easy to use.
It also has a temperature indicator, lullabies, nightlight, talk back
facility, charger and a versatile 300m range. Our panel found it was one
of the best of test for wire-free monitoring as 'it lasts a full 8 hours
- longer than most of the others on test'.
The nightlight is
quite dim in comparison to some of the other monitors.

Tommee
Tippee Sure Sound deluxe Monitor -7.5/10
Good value for money digital monitor
Price: £49.99
Available from: www.tommeetippee.com
T: 08453 30 40 70
'Excellent for special features'
This super-sensitive
monitor picks up even the tiniest of snuffles, it's also highly portable
and was the only model on test with a nightlight dimmer. It can be mains
or battery operated and has a handy indicator for when it goes out of
range.
The 100m
range wouldn't be suitable for everyone.
Tomy
Walkabout Platinum Digital - 9/10
Packed with extra features
Price: £99.99

The price!
It's obviously not going to be for everyone
