Our parent panel comments on the following: ComfortJeans that offer a comfortable fit are 'a must-have' according to our panel. Look out for styles designed with stretchy side panels, handy clasps and a support panel for your bump to ensure maximum comfort throughout pregnancy. + Top of the list for comfort was the Mamas & Papas Bootcut jeans. 'These jeans are a god send for the later stages of pregnancy - they fit snugly around the bump without being constricting and don't lose their shape'. +/- Another hit in the comfort category was the Funmum Maternity jeans: 'these tick all of the right boxes on the fashion front and the elastic adjusters on the waistband ensure a really comfortable fit, though they did need the odd tug to keep them up'. +/- Our panel felt the Crave jeans offered 'a neat and comfy fit' - 'though sitting down can be a problem as they tend to ride down over your bump'. +/- The Jo Jo Maman Bebe jeans 'looked and felt fantastic', though 'the buttons in the elastic felt a tad uncomfortable when stretched over my 33 week old bump!'. Similarly, the Seraphine jeans 'were comfy all over except for underneath my bump where they were slightly too tight. I called Seraphine who sent me a larger size within two days - I certainly cannot fault the service, its fantastic'. StyleJust because you're expecting doesn't mean you have to let it go in the style stakes! Pregnancy is a great time to flaunt your figure and modern maternity jeans are built to flatter your body and show off your beautiful bump. +/- Top of the style pile was the glamorous Seraphine maternity jeans: 'These jeans have been created with modern, young and style-conscious mums in mind', 'they look great and are very flattering for your thighs and bum'. 'Beware though - if you're a big lady with a big bump, they probably aren't the best option', as one panel member commented: 'I couldn't get them over my baby number 3 bump but I imagine they'd look stunning on Gwyneth Paltrow or Kate Moss...' + For curvier mums to be, the Mamas and Papas, Jo Jo Maman Bebe and Funmum jeans were 'stylish, practical and designed for all sorts of shapes and stages of pregnancy'. +/- Our panel tended to prefer the 'over the bump styles' as they 'fit over your tummy without rolling down'. 'Be prepared to compromise on style though as they're not as flattering or trendy as under the bump jeans'. +/- Our panel found additional extras like elasticated tighteners in the waistband and stretchy side pockets 'useful for the later stages of pregnancy', 'though you need to fiddle around with them to get them to fit correctly'. 'Stretchy jeans in good quality denim are much more wearable and don't have any extra bits that can dig into your bump!'. WashabilityJeans are susceptible to losing their shape, colour and style through extensive washing so a pair that will withstand a regular spin in the machine are worth their weight in gold. + The Mamas & Papas 'washed exceptionally well and came out looking as good as new'. Our panel also found the Seraphine jeans coped well in the machine and after several spins 'looked unusually shop-fresh' - 'great if you only plan to invest in one pair of jeans but want them to last for your entire pregnancy'. +/- The Funmum jeans 'kept their colour after washing' but one parent panel member did notice that 'the shape changed slightly when I was ironing them'. Similarly the Jo Jo Maman Bebe jeans 'washed well and kept their shape, though the colour did seem to fade after a while'. + Overall, our panel were impressed with the jeans washability, though they did find some of them felt a tad tighter after washing. 'The best way to avoid this is to stretch them out whilst wet - it works a treat every time!'. Value for moneyBabies don't come cheap so if you're busy saving for all of those nursery essentials, a great pair of maternity jeans at a good price is likely to be a top priority. Shop around and read up on what other babyworld members have to say about the different styles. If you research wisely, you'll end up with the perfect pair for you. + At just £38, our panel found the Funmum jeans 'a great investment for people on a budget' - 'the price is a good reflection of the quality and since they are stylish jeans, they're well worth the money'. + Also scoring well on value for money was the Mamas & Papas Bootcut jeans: 'I wore these jeans day and night, they suit everybody's budget and would certainly last more than one pregnancy'. Similarly the Jo Jo Maman Bebe jeans were cited as 'a great value for money pair of jeans that are perfect for casual day wear or dressing up at night time with a nice top'. +/- Our panel felt the Seraphine jeans were 'a tad overpriced', though they did feel it was a fair reflection of the style and quality of the denim. 'These jeans have the ability to provide a perfect fit and if you're one of the lucky mums-to-be who finds this - buy them immediately! They'll last forever and you'll look eternally stylish'. +/- The Crave jeans performed well overall, though our panel felt they were 'overpriced in comparison to other jeans on test'. QualityA great quality pair of jeans is essential if you want them to last throughout your 9 month pregnancy (or indeed, for any future bumps that come along). The best jeans are made from hard-wearing denim that will withstand general wear and tear yet still look great after 20 washes... + The Mamas & Papas jeans scored high on quality and our panel were impressed with 'the strong denim and stretchy material around the bump'. + Other jeans scoring high on the quality scale were the Crave and Seraphine jeans - 'the denim is strong and durable without looking stiff, though you would expect this to be the case since they are the most expensive on test!' +/- The Jo Jo Maman Bebe and Funmum jeans were 'of a reasonably high quality - especially considering they were a lot cheaper than the other styles on test'. Our panel found 'the denim was of a high standard and they would last well, depending on how often you wore and washed them'. Results
