Welcome to babyworld's new style of testing

Welcome to our first babyworld 'big test' where we bring you the very best information on those important baby buys. Each month our parent panel will be testing products in their own homes for significant periods of time, swapping them with other mums and comparing notes to give you the essential information you need to make an informed choice. We also want your comments on the products we feature so if you've got something to say, just click on 'add you review' and type away!

This month we've tested lightweight buggies. Our July panel is a group of 6 mums from Barnet, North London who met at their local antenatal classes. They each have different lifestyles and requirements when it comes to purchasing baby products and as a result, we've got some interesting reviews on what works and what doesn't in the new generation of lightweights.

Which buggy is best for my family

Lightweight buggies are generally designed with ease of use in mind. Most have a one hand fold mechanism with lockable swivel wheels, pack away easily into the boot of a car and can effortlessly be picked up with baby on board. The more advanced models have additional extras like a reclining seat, sun canopy and adjustable handle height - but whether you actually need these features really depends on your lifestyle (and budget).

When it comes to purchasing a buggy, you need to think about what's most important to you. If it's comfort and ease of use - an easy fold buggy with a padded seat that reclines will be important features to look for. On the other hand, if it's practicality and style, then a model with smooth manoeuvrability and good fabrics is likely to be at the top of your list.

Purchasing a buggy can be a somewhat confusing experience and you may feel overwhelmed at the choices on offer. To give you a head start, we've tested six lightweights with very different features so you can see how they compared. Each mum has tested all of the buggies - putting them through their paces in the park, on public transport, at the shopping centre and many other interesting places!
