Buyer's tips
A changing bag is a place to keep all your baby's nappy change needs. It is something you will take out and about with you containing all your baby essentials. Not everyone feels the need to have a specially designed bag for this job but if you do decide to buy one, here are some tips on what to look for.
What to look for:
- Storage pockets are useful and may be shaped specifically for bottles, baby food jars, soothers or toys.
- Consider size - it is useful if the bag can hold a simple change of baby clothes, any feeding essentials and the odd toy or soother as well as wipes, creams and nappies - but remember too big and it will be hard to carry.
- Some come with accessories - portable changing mat, dirty nappy bag, soother pouch - consider what you get when checking value for money.
- Changing bags may be either in a backpack or shoulder bag style. Consider your own lifestyle and dress style before choosing and remember that if you want your partner to use the bag as often as you do, you should choose something unisex which won't be an embarrassment for him to carry!
- Remember a deep bag may hold lots but it may be hard to find the specific item you want if it gets lost at the bottom. Bags with mesh or see through pockets and light interiors help you spot the items you need more easily.
