We've tested a wide variety of baby foods - from
first purees and snacks to more substantial, texturised meals for
toddlers. Our panel and their babies had lots of fun testing the
foods and the results make for an interesting read with comments
ranging from 'he hated it' to 'I've never seen her gobble up food
so quickly!'

The Panel
Our panel come from all over the UK and include Jo, Gareth and Evan from
Hampshire. Gareth runs his own company catering for the motor sports industry
and has only ever given home-made, freshly cooked meals for his 8 month
old son. See what Evan thought of the Babylicious range and why he had
to get his best mate Archie in on the testing too!
Cheeky twins Max and Toby had a ball testing the Hipp Organic range and
were 'particularly keen on the penne with tomato and courgette' whilst
1 year old Finlay got into the festive spirit with the Organix gingerbread
men and raisins. Other hits included the Easy Freezy Salmon & Spinach
Mash - 'I ate the lot myself' and All Good Stuff purees - 'a cunning way
to get additional goodness into tiny tummies'.
The Department of Health advises weaning from 6 months onwards as your
baby's digestive and immune system is more mature and there is less risk
of developing food allergies. However, if your baby is showing regular
signs of hunger, it's likely that they are ready for something more substantial
than just milk. My son Fin started eating solids at 15 weeks on the advice
of our highly experienced and knowledgeable health visitor. Much to our
amazement he devoured an entire bowl of baby rice within 2 days of his
first tastes and at 16 months, he continues to polish off bowls of food
in record time. Could he have waited until 6 months? I'd very much doubt
it, but it really depends on your individual baby and the recommendations
of your Health Visitor.
