About bottles
The market for bottles is huge and it can be tricky choosing the right
style for your baby.
Bottle terminology such as anti-colic valves, s-shaped designs and free
flow spouts can confuse even the most clued up parent so to help you on
your way to bottle know-how we've tested six different products, all designed
from birth/3 months until your baby progresses to a cup.
Our panel tested the bottles over 6 weeks, concluding that they 'really
do vary in terms of suitability for different babies' and that it's 'essential
to consider the design first - especially if you have a windy/colicky
child'.
Bottles like Dr
Browns and Avent
are 'great for older babies but they also offer cleverly designed teats
and valves that can make bottle feeding much more comfortable for your
tot'.
The Nuk
learner bottle was a hit with breastfeeding mums as it has a' super-soft
spout designed to help your child adapt to drinking from a cup', as was
the Difrax
- a soft-teat bottle that prevents trapped wind and eases the combination
of breast and bottle feeding.
Which bottles won?
In joint place for Best Buy was the Difrax
('great s-shaped design that makes for easy, stress-free feeding') and
Dr
Browns for its 'super-soft teat and internal valve that's brilliant
at reducing colic and trapped wind'.
All of
the mums agreed that the Avent
bottle offered the best value for money: 'It's compatible with most sterilisers
and with a wide variety of teats available at a great price, it's a very
popular choice!'
