Baby Shapes books and mobile set
CP Publishing, paperback, £9.99

The Baby Shapes books and mobile, which are featured in The Social Baby, are a stimulating toy for your baby's first months.

Research has shown that babies respond best to high contrast images in the first months of life; the reason that many first toys are now made in stark bands of black, white and red.

These books and mobiles take all that research and pack it into four small picture books, graded according to age, and a mobile that can be fixed over a cot or a bouncing chair.

One of the books includes bold faces making different expressions, which your baby may try to copy.

A worthwhile investment if you want to try some stimulating toys with a very small child.
*Mobiles should always be secured out of reach of a baby.

Hannah is a big baby now!
Children's Project, hardback, £4.99, 32 pages

ABSOLUTELY perfect for introducing toddlers and slightly older children to the idea that they have a little brother or sister coming.

The book isn’t actually tailored to this, but does fill the purpose, with gorgeous colour photographs following baby Hannah from birth to one year old.

To help a small child get to grips with why their tiny brother or sister can’t play with them yet, this book shows each of Hannah’s milestones along the way: blowing bubbles, crawling, clambering up stairs, and more.

You can also use the book to help mark the events of your child’s first year and use Hannah’s achievements to relive them with your baby.

The book concludes with a clever two-page spread of pictures of Hannah, one taken every month for her first year, showing her grow from a tiny newborn to a happy toddler.

Hannah goes to Nursery
Children's Project, hardback, £4.99, 32 pages

AN EXCELLENT way to introduce a child to the concept of nursery, or simply to share in what they do each day.

Although the book follows a child who is aged about four, it is still informative enough to be useful for younger children attending nursery.

It covers a bewildering range of activities including painting, growing plants and playing in a sandpit.

There are notes for parents and carers and it helps to show what small children can do when away from their own families.

The book is produced by the Children’s Project. www.childrensproject.co.uk
