Finding the right antenatal class for youEven within these broad definitions, what is covered in an antenatal class, and how, will vary greatly. Ask friends who have been to classes recently if they enjoyed them and whether they found them useful. Then ring the person running the classes and find out more about what is covered, how big the group is likely to be and where the class will be held. Consider doing more than one class so that you can cover different aspects in different classes. Think about how each sort of class will suit your partner as well. Getting the best out of your classesIt is easy to just drift along to classes without really thinking through what you want from them until its too late. To get the best from them:
In some areas some types of classes get very booked up. In London and the South East you may find you need to book NCT classes as early as 12-16 weeks, so make sure you find out early. In some rural areas NHS classes are run with quite long gaps in between, so check with your midwife when they are likely to start. Why not join our Antenatal Club for on-line antenatal classes as a great supplement to whichever type of class you decide on, as well as a great way to get in touch with other mums expecting around the same time as you. Where to next?
