Confirming your pregnancy

As soon as you think you are pregnant - or have a positive result from a DIY pregnancy testing kit - go and see your GP. You will need to discuss arrangements for your antenatal care and where you would like your baby to be born. If you have any pre-existing medical conditions, you will also need to discuss what, if any, changes are needed to your medication.

You may be offered an ultrasound scan (a dating scan) to confirm when your baby is due, or this may be offered later. The scan is necessary if you are going to have any early antenatal tests to make sure they are carried out at the right time.
