Contraception

One of the first questions you will be asked in the 48 hours after having your baby is: have you thought about contraception?

After what you’ve just gone through, having sex is likely to be the last thing on your mind, but it’s wise to think about what you plan to do.

If you plan to breastfeed, you’ll need to take advice on what you can or can’t take if you are thinking about going on the contraceptive pill. A midwife will talk this through with you or you can talk to your GP at your six-week check.

icircle Health has a complete section on contraception, including how it works, how reliable it is, whether you should change your method and information on different methods.
