THIS MONTH'S FAVE RAVE:
Can You Keep a Secret?, by Pamella Allen |
This
small-size hardback book feels great to hold while theres a
little one on your knee. The simple images and large text set
against alternating pink and white backgrounds work really
well, as we are asked if we can keep a secret about the Kings
lost crown.
In fact, the text unobtrusively
introduces the prepositions under, behind, inside and between,
and four colours, green, yellow, blue and brown, but the story
is nice and simple, and features the repeated phrase: Shhh
You mustnt tell.

HONOURABLE MENTION:
Max's Starry Night, by Ken Wilson-Max |
This
tale about how a boy called Max helps his friend Blue Elephant
to overcome a fear of the dark is sweetly-written and
colourfully-illustrated, though a little over-priced.
Instead of having to go outside into the
dark night to look at the stars, Blue Elephant can lie on the
bed and contemplate a starry mobile that Max has made for them
all.
