Baby books: 18 months and over

THIS MONTH'S FAVE RAVE:
Phone Friends by Steve Bland
This light board book has shaped edges that make it look like a telephone and a good shape to hold. The telephone ringer button is easy to press, and the pictures of animal friends getting ready for Kitten's party are really appealing. Mum of an three-year-old comments: "The telephone sounds quite real, and a bit like ours, so it makes me stand to attention!"

Please note: this toy book is only suitable for children over 36 months.

HONOURABLE MENTION:
Good Luck Mrs Duck!  written by Jane Kemp and Clare Walters, and illustrated by Ant Parker
Sit back and enjoy this upbeat rhyming tale of a group of farmyard friends who encourage Mrs Duck on her way. She asks them what they will do while she's away finding treasure, and the goat replies that he'll nibble the scarecrow's coat, and the Skippety Sheep says she'll bounce and she'll leap. And what does Mrs Duck do when she's away? She lays five eggs, the eggs hatch, and the treasure she brings back to show her friends are five little ducklings.
