Baby books: 18 months and over

THIS MONTH'S FAVE RAVE:
Bob and Eddie Paint The House
by Cathy Gale
This interactive storybook is about two characters called Bob (who's rather bossy) and Eddie (who doesn't mind being bossed) who decide to do some decorating. It's really child-like in its approach and has a lovely subversive humour.

The cupboard where they store everything is very messy - open the card flap door and see for yourself. On the next page there are two flip-charts showing a choice of colours and patterns. You'll be able to roll the wallpaper down along the wall, and when it comes to sweeping up the dust, it goes right under their newly-laid rug!

HONOURABLE MENTION:
The Wheels On The Bus written by Moira Butterfield and illustrated by Kate Merritt
Five well-known nursery songs and rhymes are presented alongside clear action pictures. Favourites like The Wheels on the Bus are here, as well as Dingle Dangle Scarecrow and Five Little Peas. The illustrations are bright and contemporary, and there's also a novelty feature in each picture. For the peas song, lift the big pea-shaped flap and inside are five round green faces and a big POP!

Mum of a two year-old comments: "There's lots packed into this book, but it's still easy to read and enjoy, whereas lots of other action rhyme books are too busy and not half as attractive."
