babyworld recipes: 12 months

Main course: Roast turkey and all the trimmings

Once your baby has reached 12 months he can share in the food you cook for the rest of the family on Christmas day.

Serve your baby a selection of the food on the table: roast turkey, sausage and stuffing, bread sauce, gravy, brussel sprouts, carrots, roast potatoes and any other delicacies that you and your family traditionally eat at Christmas.

Just remember: be careful not to give your baby too much of anything containing salt and do not give him anything that contains alcohol (such as brandy butter).

Christmas jelly and fruit

This recipe takes a little while to make, but it's well worth it for the multi-coloured finish!

Ingredients
1 packet strawberry jelly
1 packet lime jelly
100g raspberries

Make up the green and red jelly mixtures, according to the packet instructions. Keep them warm so the jelly mixtures don't set.

Choose a large bowl to hold the two jellies and fruit.

Place a few pieces of fruit on the bottom of the bowl bowl and pour in about 5cm of red jelly mixture.

Place a small paperback book underneath the bowl so that it is propped at an angle and leave the jelly to set.

When the first layer of jelly has set place a few more raspberries in the bowl and pour in about 5cm of green jelly mixture. Now use the book again to prop the bowl at a different angle. Leave the jelly to set.

Repeat with alternate coloured jellies until you have used up both jelly mixtures, allowing each layer to set as you go.

Once finished the jelly can be left in the fridge until you are ready to serve it. When you are ready to serve it, briefly dip the bowl in a pan of hot water to loosen the jelly, place a plate over the top of the bowl and invert. Shake a little, place on the table and lift off the bowl to reveal a multi-coloured Christmas jelly.
