Clothes for prem babies

Clothes can be a problem and you may find that you have a limited choice! It is best to keep to simple designs, made from pure cotton if possible. Some high street retailers now stock clothes for prem babies, and there are some specialist companies, too. The babyworld shop also carries a range of clothes for premature babies. 

A premature baby’s skin is very, very delicate and needs to be protected. So, particularly if your baby is born in the spring or summer, it is essential you use a sunscreen on all exposed skin. Your baby will also need to be protected from the wind, and even in summer will need a hat to keep him warm.

If finances are a problem, some hospitals may be able to point you in the direction of neonatal grants or bursaries which are intended to help people who are suffering from hardship to purchase some of the special items they need for their premature baby. Your hospital may also have a premature baby clothes library.
