"I love you all the stars in the universe!"
Mushy moments with your kids
Has your child ever said or done anything to make your heart
melt? Grab a Kleenex and read what some children say to make you weep
with joy!
"I love you and need a cuddle"
"I took my two to a parent/toddler group, which was very busy with lots
of babies and noise. My older boy pretty much amuses himself as most of
my time is taken up making sure the younger one doesn't get into mischief!
Anyway, when it was time for all the toddlers to have a drink and a biscuit
(there's always a scramble to the tables, and this week was particularly
busy), my older one was grabbing at me, wanting to tell me something whilst
I was grappling with a very fidgety 10-month-old. I turned, somewhat flustered,
to my two-year-old and said, 'Yes Benjamin, what is it?' and he replied,
'I love you and I need a cuddle'. Ah my heart melted and there was a chorus
of ahhs from the other mums gathered round!" Slambo1
"I want to fix mummy's back
"In the summer, when I was heavily pregnant with Iona, I was having
a lot of pain in my lower back and hips and spent most of the day either
complaining or bouncing on my gym ball. One particularly bad afternoon,
Rory (who was two and a half) approached me with his Bob the Builder hardhat
and a screwdriver. I asked him what he was doing and he said, 'Fixing
mummy's bad back to make her better'. Morag
"I love you all the stars in the universe!"
"Harry comes out with the most elaborately romantic things. I have no
idea where he picks them up from, I think they genuinely come from his
heart! When I put him to bed he says, 'Blow me a kiss, mummy, so I can
catch it and put it on my pillow so I can sleep on it all night'. Another
thing he said once was, 'I wish I was Daddy so I can marry you and take
care of you for the rest of my life'. And another was, 'I love all you
all the stars in the universe and when they finish I will still love you'.
He's only six! I reckon he must have been my husband in a past life!"

"I love your face"
"My niece is coming out with the cutest things right now - she's 2.7
years old. The other day, I was feeling sad, and was putting her coat
on when she kissed me and said 'I love your face, Marie'. It was just
the sweetest and mushiest thing anyone has ever said to me! And I know
what she means ~ I love her face too!" Marie
"He is my bestest friend"
"Mine isn't something my little one has said but my friend's little
boy. He is five and we took Jacob over to meet him last week, the day
after he was born. He sat on the floor beside me, kissed Jake on the head
and said, 'He is going to be my bestest friend and I will share all my
toys with him and show him how to play cars'. Me and my partner, as well
as his mum and dad, all just melted!" Tracie
"He gives me a big cuddle and pats my back"
"Che isn't at the age where he can verbalise his love/affection but
he does show it. I can think of many examples but one of my favourites
has to be the way he will move my face towards him so he can kiss me on
the lips and then gives me a big cuddle and pats my back (which he got
from my husband when he cuddles him). You kind of have to be there to
get it!" Rain
"He gives the best sloppy kisses ever"
"My six-year-old always tells me he loves me up to the moon and back;
he also says he wants to marry me and when I say I'm already married to
Daddy, he just says 'Oh ok, I'll marry Nannie instead then'. Our little
one also gives the best sloppy kisses ever, which leave nearly the whole
of your face wet, but he is only one so he's got an excuse!" Duguid
He toddled over and wrapped his arms round my
neck"
"My little boy (one year old) has just learned to hug! I went and picked
him up from Nursery last week and instead of the usual crying (how dare
you leave me here all day... etc!) I got a HUGE smile and he stood up,
toddled over to me and wrapped his arms around my neck! He's not the most
loving of babies, and is a pretty rough-and-tumble kinda guy, but that
just made my heart melt!" Kjayne
"Mummy you are NOT fat! But you are spotty!"
"A while ago I was having a real 'beaten by the ugly stick day' , or
so I felt, as I was bloating out of my jeans and my skin was having some
teenage-style breakout. I was studying myself in the mirror with some
horror and said to myself, 'Oh Clare! You are so fat and spotty!' when
my daughter (then 6) came up behind me, threw her arms around me and said
'Mummy you are NOT fat! But you are spotty!' Thank you sweetheart…
"She has made up for it since though. We were watching a film together
the other week and she suddenly said, 'Mummy… when you get dressed up
to go out you look like the most beautiful princess in the world!' (There
must be some ropey old royalty knocking about some corners of the globe
then!)
"My most memorable special moment of this kind of late though came from
Alex, age 5, who has CP and nowhere near the amount of speech as is normal
for his age and what he does say is not that clear. I put him into bed,
gave him a kiss and cuddle, said 'I Love you Alex' and he said, clear
as a bell, 'Uv Oo Too'! Fab moment!" Clare
"He smiles and waves at me"
"I started back at work on Monday and it's been so traumatic, for me,
I should add, not for Max. Obviously I feel such sadness at leaving him.
But he's taken to giving me a huge smile and waving when I have to leave
him there, it just melts my heart. Also he's just started crawling which
is lovely in itself, but when I pick him up from nursery, no matter what
he's doing he stops and crawls over to me....just makes me fill up writing
it." Amanda
