The verdicts

Savoury

Baby OrganixBaby Organix sweetcorn and potato – two babies liked this but didn’t want to finish it, and another three got very upset by the texture. It went down better with most of the mums, who enjoyed the sweetcorn taste.

Baby OrganixBaby Organix vegetable and coconut korma – the twins coughed at this one but the other babies adored it, to their mum’s surprise. This was easily the favourite savoury, but Eilidh’s mum does add a warning that her nappies were somewhat unpleasant the next day.

HippHipp vegetable with noodles and chicken – good texture and soft noodles made this a hit with two babies, although Fletcher preferred it blended. The other babies weren’t keen.

HippHipp spaghetti with tomato and mozzarella – good lumps and easy to chew according to most mums, although James sucked off the sauce and spat out the spaghetti!

Boots OrganicBoots noodles in cheese and leek sauce – although most of the babies liked the sauce they found it a little too lumpy. Only one baby was keen on the lumps. One mum said it tasted strongly of leeks, another said she could hardly taste the leeks.

Boots OrganicBoots vegetable and turkey bake – lumps a bit too hard to chew was the verdict on this jar, but the babies who persevered with the lumps ate the whole jar with relish. Only one mum said her baby refused to eat any of it.

Bio BambiniBio Bambini chicken, carrot and potato – Eilidh munched the whole jar, but another baby disliked it. The lack of lumps (Bio Bambini introduce lumps later, concentrating on new flavours at this age) proved popular with most babies who could eat it easily.

Bio BambiniBio Bambini beef, carrot and potato – easy to eat, loathed by one baby but lapped up by Ross. Jessica liked it but Chloe didn’t, one of the few times the twins disagreed.

Sweet

Baby OrganixBaby Organix pear, apple and oats – a big hit with two babies, who liked the very soft lumps. James’ mum thought there was a good balance in the fruit quantities. Jessica and Chloe’s dad liked this more than they did!

Baby OrganixBaby Organix rice pudding with apricots – Poppy loved the lumps which were a good size to chew as did Eilidh but two babies shuddered with every mouthful and another spat it all out. Ross, who loves apricots, was not keen either.

HippHipp tropical fruit salad – Eilidh found this easy to eat, but Fletcher found it a bit a bit stringy and James didn’t like the lumps. Ross loved it and couldn’t eat enough.

HippHipp fruit duet – plum and apricot with yoghurt – a big hit with three babies, but one mum felt it was too sweet and while another baby liked the fruit, which is under the yoghurt, he wasn’t keen on the yoghurt.

Boots OrganicBoots fruit salad – this was praised as fresh and tasty by several mums, with Poppy lapping it up

Boots OrganicBoots banana and peach compote – a big hit, Eilidh got cross if the spoon wasn’t fast enough! Smooth, not too grainy, with a strong taste of banana and one of James’ favourites. Didn’t agree with Ross.

Bio BambiniBio Bambini pear pudding – very popular with Jessica, James and Poppy, but disliked by another baby. Very popular with all the parents!

Bio BambiniBio Bambini apple and blueberry pudding – had a few bits in it but once babies were used to that they enjoyed this dessert. One child savoured every spoonful but did need a drink to help swallow.
