What is National Family Week?
The UK's first ever National Family Week is to take place over the main
summer half term holiday from 25-31 May 2009. Packed with fun for the
whole family to enjoy together, National Family Week will see a wealth
of events and activities run across the UK to engage, entertain and most
importantly provide the opportunity for families to spend quality time
together.
Visit www.nationalfamilyweek.co.uk
to find out what will be going on in your local area. Endorsed by the
Prime Minister and supported by a host of celebrities, the week has been
developed to help promote a more family-friendly culture in the UK. Hundreds
of activities will reach thousands of families in venues such as leisure
centres, schools, parks and shopping centres plus discounts will be offered
on family-orientated products, meals and visitor attractions.
Activities already planned for the week include a record attempt for
the World's Largest Picnic, the Family Week Story Time, Family Week Film
Night and Family Week Sports Day, culminating in an extended family focus
on the last Sunday to visit your family relatives and enjoy a Family Week
Feast. Parenting issues will be discussed throughout the week with various
experts offering advice and opinions on parenting in the UK today.
Over a hundred not-for-profit organisations including community, charitable
and educational groups are already supporting National Family Week alongside
some of the biggest family brands who will be providing great family friendly
offers throughout the week. Supporting partners include Activision, Bupa,
Butlins, LEGOLAND Windsor, Little Chef, Outwell, Pizza Hut, Sainsbury's,
SEAT, and Vue Cinemas.

Byron, comments; "Families form the basis of a strong society.
Families are places of love, of fun, of learning, of togetherness...
I am so pleased to endorse National Family Week and will do all I can
to promote and celebrate the rich diversity of family life in the UK."
TV Presenters Richard Madeley & Judy Finnigan add; "As proud parents to
four wonderful children, we know how important family is in all its forms…
We feel lucky to have met so many extraordinary people through our work
and have learned that every family is unique and inspirational in its
own way. We look forward to the UK's first National Family Week and joining
families of all shapes and sizes in celebrating the treasured institution
that is The Family."
