From the mouths of babes

What do children think of their mums? Babyworlders share their most touching compliments!

'Mummy always knows what to do'

'The other day, when suffering from the horrid tummy bug and unable to get up, my daughter had a reaction to her bubble bath. My husband was trying to sort it out, and I heard Holly say to him: 'I want mummy. Mummy always knows what to do.' It made me feel all warm all over - normally I feel like I am making a complete hash of things so it was lovely to hear that she thought I did something right! And when I was better last night and could do the bedtime routine, she came running up to me shouting 'Mummy mummy mummy!' and gave me a massive hug. It was lovely.' Sam

'They say I am everything they need'

'My two older children have grown up with out their dad. This has always made me feel bad. I've always said to them that I am sorry they don't have a family like their friends, with a mum and dad living together. My children have always said I am everything they need and that I have done a brilliant job and they wouldn't want it any other way. So I may be a single parent but I seem to have done a good job in giving them everything they need.' reece2701

'I am happy when I am with my Mommy'

'The children in my daughter's class were all asked to draw a picture of something or some place that makes them feel happy, and write a caption underneath. Among the pictures of barbie dolls, the beach, sweets etc was this picture of a lady... I looked closer and it was Jade's. She had written "I am happy when I am with my Mommy". I cried my eyes out. For about half an hour!' Tracy

'I love you, mummy'

'My son makes me smile when he tells me he loves me. I also was touched when we were at my mother-in-law's house and he was being told to sit on the sofas properly, not to run around etc, as she is fairly strict like that and there are no toys to play with either. He politely said "My mummy lets me run around". I actually quite liked that - he obviously has started to notice the differences in people's ways and what they allow.' Datura

'I'm lucky to have you as my mum'

'My eldest sends me lovely texts since he has been at uni as to how lucky he is to have me as his mum and to thank me for always being there. He's not big with words or letters so I am overjoyed with these. He also told me he was glad I had him when I was young as he was proud to have the youngest mum out of his friends. My daughter always tells me I'm her Best Mum for Life! She is always writing cards for me and little bits of paper saying "I love you". She also tells me when I'm dressed to go out (not that often!) that I look beautiful... and that I make the best lasagne in the world! Steph

'Wiii wooo mummy!'

'My 22-month-old daughter was so cute today. I was in a shop trying on some shoes and I heard a little voice pipe up "wiiii woooo mummy!!!" as I was admiring myself in the mirror. I had to obviously then buy the shoes!' sjdavies

'Rio's place'

'My son always gets me with this...When we're sat on the sofa cuddling, he snuggles into my right side (always my right) and says: ''Rio's place''. SJS31

'I love you six/eight/twenty-four'

'When he goes to bed he says "I love you". I say "I love you too" and he says " I love you six / eight / twenty-four ..." as his ability to count increases (not knowing the difference between two and too). Last night he said "I love you...um... I need some more numbers".' Fredi
