DIARY
OF A DAD-TO-BE
WEEK 37
Maria is like a different person. All the angst about being at work
disappears – now all she needs to do is think about giving birth!
We had been looking forward to this time for so long and, to
celebrate, had booked a long weekend at a leisure park.
As we drive up the motorway, Maria lets out all her frustration –
"Thank God I’ve finished work!" – I feel so happy for
her.
The break is just what we needed. Sam is in his element, there is
so much space and things to explore. We ponder whether he is a budding
David Attenborough, as he appears fascinated by the wildlife in the
park.
I’m a bit wary as a huge Swan decides to venture out of the river
next to our chalet, but Sam has no fear, urging me to go with him to
say "ello to the don."
Maria looks at families off cycling together and, being the type of
energetic person she is, tells me how she wishes she could join them.
A couple of good long walks in the fresh forest air seem to calm her,
though. This is the life…
As we sit on our last evening, having a quiet beer and mineral
water, it seems to us that this is the lull before the storm. Hey, but
we are still looking forward to getting "wet".
