WEEK 33
Maria receives the results from the blood test at last week’s
hospital check The diagnosis is that she is short of iron and needs to
adjust her diet. This amuses me as Maria is a vegetarian and has one
of the healthiest diets I’ve ever seen. Still, more fruit and veg
can do no one any harm I guess.
Onto the shopping list go watercress, dried apricots, figs and even
more wholemeal bread. I jokingly suggest that she has the odd pint of
Guinness to wash it all down. Maria smiles and curtly replies: "I
don’t think so."
She is resolutely keeping her exercise regime up, even though her
advanced stage of pregnancy dictates that her beloved gym and aerobics
sessions are now out of the question.
Many lengths of the health club’s 20-metre pool are the only form
of exertion possible. This is no hardship for Maria, as she has always
enjoyed her swimming.
Being not such a water baby myself, she thankfully doesn’t insist
on me keeping her company.
Ahh, now where’s that TV remote control…
