Trying to teach your child to tell the time? Aramazu
has the answer

For a child, learning to tell the time is an important
skill and a significant milestone in a young life. Being able to
tell the time gives a child pride and their first glimpse of independence
- knowing what time it is allows them freedom and control over their
daily routine.
However, for centuries, learning to tell the time
has been a long and difficult process. The whole concept can be
very confusing, with no apparent logic - "When is a 4 not a 4? When
it means '20 past'!" But now help is at hand. Aramazu is a new method
of teaching children to tell the time.
Using simple illustrated storybooks, the Aramazu method
breaks down the concept of time into easy steps, making learning
to tell the time fun, quick and easy for children of all ages.
Developed by parents for parents, with advice from
education experts, the Aramazu method produces results within minutes.
A recent trial run by Primary Times magazine resulted in 100% of
parents recommending Aramazu, and 50% of children able to tell the
time within 20 minutes of learning with Aramazu.
How does the Aramazu method work?
On the Aramazu clock, each hour in the shape of a
mountain. Time takes one hour to climb over each mountain: half
an hour to the o'clock at the top, and another half an hour down
to the half past at the bottom. Fingers are good at pointing, so
on this clock, the hour hand in a finger.
 |
It points to the hour that Time is on. Minutes
are the steps Time uses to climb over the hour mountains,
on two giant ladders call 'to' and 'past'. These ladders lie
around the outside of the clock face.
- Feet are good at climbing, so the minute hand is a foot.
It points to the minute (counting from the top) and the
ladder ('to' or 'past') that Time is on right now. '
- Foot! Foot! Finger!' is the code to telling the time.
- 'Foot!' - which minute? ie. 10. 'Foot!' - which ladder?
ie. Past. 'Finger!' - which hour? ie. 1 o'clock.
- So the time is '10 past 1'.
