"We'd
like to thank babyworld for giving us the chance to meet each other"
Rhea Booth contacted us to let us know that 11 mums and babies
from her babyworld antenatal club were meeting for the first time and
to say 'thankyou' for giving them the chance to become part of each others
lives through babyworld's antenatal clubs!
"The only difference between us and any other
group of friends is that until last weekend we'd never actually met
each other!"
My favourite way to spend an afternoon is to sit down with a cup of tea
and have a good gossip and a catch up with my friends. We have so much
in common, the main thing being that all of us have babies of a similar
age.
We went through our pregnancies together, bonding over the many, many
discussions about which push chair to buy, what to take to the hospital,
how to ease morning sickness etc. Then as the babies were born our chats
gradually became more personal, more emotional, and much more special.
We have seen each other through so much. Early births, babies going through
surgery and illness, the loss of our gorgeous angel Harvey who was born
sleeping, man trouble, PND, money worries….and a million more troubles
big and small. We have also celebrated just as many wonderful moments,
first smiles, first steps, first birthdays, new pregnancy's, new babies,
new jobs ,new homes, even new handbags!!
It's so good to know that whatever you have to say, good or bad, you'll
get a wealth of support and advice in reply. The only difference between
us and any other group of friends is that until last weekend we'd never
actually met each other!
We'd
become friends online through the babyworld February 07 antenatal club
and we decided long ago that it would be great to hold a big Feb 07 1st
birthday party for all the babies. It took a lot of organising and was
a real group effort. We were sad to realise that wherever we decided to
hold it there would be some people who couldn't make it, but we settled
on Milton Keynes in the end as it was the most central place. Vicky (mum
of Reilly) who lives in the area found us a wonderful hall to hire with
a kitchen and a little outside play area, perfect! Helena, our mod (mum
of Ella) booked the hall for us and Gina (mum of Harry) and Sarah (mum
of Jack) arrived early to set everything up. Helen (mum of Katie) made
three absolutely gorgeous birthday cakes and the rest of us all brought
food and toys so we were all set.
Eleven mums and babies made it in the end. Most of us brought
partners and other children too, so we were a very merry crowd!
The children played together wonderfully, the daddies got
on nicely too (many snatches of conversation regarding miles to the gallon,
x-box live and camera equipment were heard!) and as for us mummies, we
just couldn't keep quite!
There was not one moment of awkwardness, we were chatting
nineteen to the dozen straight away. It was so good to meet face to face
and have a little cuddle with each others beautiful babies. We'd brought
enough food to feed about four times the amount of people that were actually
there, but never mind, it was all lovely!
"It was such a success....we're already planning
a girls night out for our next get together."
It
was such a big success, our only regret is that we really missed those
who couldn't make it, either because it was too far to travel or because
their little ones were unwell. But we're already planning a girls night
out for our next get together and hoping that since the babies won't be
with us a lot more of the group will be able to come!
We'd like to thank babyworld for giving us the chance to
meet each other and to become such a big part of each others lives.
