Discussion forum netiquette
As part of our committment to ensure that babyworld's discussion forums are pleasant and secure areas in which or members can chat with confidence, here are some basic netiquette rules for you to follow. We urge you to stick to these to ensure that using the discussion forums remains a pleasant and positive experience for everyone.
- please also read the forum rules
- all postings should be typed in English.
- please think very carefully about what you post if you are posting a message
in a particularly sensitive forum, such as Losing a Baby,
- remember that all members of babyworld can read your posting - be sure that you want to give out personal information before you post a message. However, we respectfully ask that you use a proper name when posting to the forums and keep that name when posting. Your email address automatically appears in postings but this can be deleted before you submit a posting if you would prefer to withhold it.
- a healthy exchange of opinions and disagreements is allowed but please challenge opinions with respect. Name calling, insults and abusive language are not tolerated.
- please do not type in CAPITAL LETTERS in your postings. This means that you are shouting and will not be well received.
- check out our Acronyms and Emoticons page. This will help you to decipher all the meanings of acronyms such as, LOL, NT and HPT if you are new to the internet and babyworld.
- personal messages should be sent by email, rather than posted on forums.
- remember that other members are human beings whose culture and language may have different points of reference from your own. Be especially careful with sarcasm.
- The onus is on you to act responsibly. If other users are misbehaving, please don't join in but email us directly..
