Twin delights - naming twins
US President George Bush named his twin daughters (pictured right) after both their grandmothers, Barbara and Jenna. Mel Gibson's twins are called Edward and Christian and Denzel Washington's Malcolm and Olivia. So, how should you name your twin babies?
Naming twins can cause a double headache for parents who find it hard enough to name one child.
But, there are several solutions. One of the most popular naming methods is to choose names with the same first initial, such as Mark and Mary, Kelly and Kim or James and Julie. Another option is to use the same last letter (or sound) of the name such as Lucy and Henry, Hannah and Sarah, and Brian and Ryan.
More unusual methods could be using themes to match up the names. One possible theme is geographical names such as Paris and London. You could use biblical names such as Samuel and Mary or names from Greek and Roman mythology, for instance Helen and Athena.
But, most parents feel comfortable picking names which they feel simply work together well but don't necessarily have anything in common. It's arguably more important that the names should fit with your last name.
