Meet
the antenatal clubs teacher Grania
Grania Foster started her working life with a publishing company, where she worked for 12 years. During the last few years there she studied to achieve a Diploma in Higher Education (antenatal education) and the NCT Licence to Practise. She has been a qualified antenatal teacher since 2003 and teaches regular antenatal classes locally.
She is mother to 4 children, and has been a member of babyworld since 1999, joining antenatal clubs while expecting her last 2 babies.
'During
and after my pregnancies, I found the babyworld antenatal clubs a fantastic
support. It was great to be able to visit my club whenever I wanted, to
ask our adviser and the other members about symptoms I'd experienced, have
a moan, and share the ups and downs of pregnancy and early parenthood with
people in a similar situation. I'm delighted that since early 2006 I have
had the opportunity, as a babyworld antenatal adviser, to offer support
and information to others who are pregnant, and going through the most amazing
and significant adventure of their lives.
Combining work on babyworld with my antenatal teaching has meant that
I have a detailed view of the whole of pregnancy from the first positive
test through to the birth and beyond. Gaining a wider picture of pregnancy
and birth has been fascinating and really enjoyable, and I love helping,
reassuring, supporting and advising the babyworld members. Babyworld is
an important resource for those who don't have access to advice from others
who are pregnant, and who don't have a local support network. I think it's
so important that the antenatal classes on babyworld provide an opportunity
for everyone to access the information they need, regardless of where they
live, or even what time of day it is!'
